We've been supporting schools to welcome children and staff back into the classroom safely. In line with Government guidance, face to face learning has returned in schools and education settings. School attendance is mandatory for all pupils of compulsory school age and it's a priority to ensure that as many children as possible regularly attend school. This is especially important as many pupils have lost valuable learning over the last 18 months.
While school and education settings are largely back to normal, testing remains hugely important in helping to reduce transmission of the virus. All secondary school pupils should receive two on-site lateral flow device (LFD) tests, 3 to 5 days apart on their return to school. They should then continue to test twice a week at home.

Vaccination information
Vaccinations for 16 & 17 year olds
Anyone aged 16 & 17 is now eligible for a vaccination. Young people can still get very poorly with Covid and vaccination is the safest way to protect you and your friends. You can attend any one of our walk in clinics across the city.
Vaccination in pregnant & breastfeeding women
Vaccination in pregnancy against COVID-19 is strongly recommended. More than 200 000 women in the UK and USA have had a COVID-19 vaccine in pregnancy with no concerning safety signals. The vaccine is very effective, 98% of women admitted to hospital and getting severe infection have not had the vaccine. You can have your vaccine at any time in pregnancy, and preference is to offer the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines. The rare syndrome of vaccine-induced thrombosis and thrombocytopenia (VITT) has been reported after the Oxford-AstraZeneca, there is no evidence that pregnant or postpartum women are at higher risk of VITT.
Breastfeeding women can receive a COVID-19 vaccine without having to stop breastfeeding. There is no evidence to suggest that COVID-19 vaccines affect fertility. Women planning a pregnancy or fertility treatment can receive a COVID-19 vaccine and do not need to delay conception. More information from the recent study into the vaccine and pregnancy is here: www.rcog.org.uk/coronavirus-pregnancy
