Sheffield Family Centres continue to offer activity sessions online. Around 1000 families have joined one or more of our online sessions since they began!
Weekly we provide:
- Baby Groups & Baby Senses: a place for new parents & carers to connect, make friends and share experiences as well as learn some simple play ideas to help baby develop.
“I am really thankful for the online baby group- definitely gave me the confidence to explore and help shape his understanding of the world”
- Breastfeeding Groups: for mums who want some support with feeding their baby.
“Since joining the group each week the group leaders have provided me with much needed help and encouragement as I was finding breastfeeding really hard and was considering giving up. With the information and support provided I have overcome the difficulties I had and now really enjoy feeding my baby.”
- Baby Massage sessions for babies up to 6 months old; a chance for new parents to learn massage skills to support babies health and development and your bond with baby. Also, a chance to connect with other new parents.
“It has been lovely to do something 'normal' albeit in a different format. I also really appreciated having someone to talk to regarding xxxx sleep/feeding/development as well as techniques to help calm her.”
We know many families desire to now attend groups in person and we are keeping up to date with government guidance on offering such services.
Our buildings have been risk assessed to hold a safe number of people whilst maintaining social distance: this has significantly reduced the number of people we can host in our rooms, which is why to date, we continue to provide a weekly programme of zoom activity sessions.
We are currently working to bring services back into centres with the aim to do so in the New Year. We are really looking forward to welcoming you back into a safe environment for you and your little ones. Thank you for your patience as we work to ensure we are ready.
New zoom activities are scheduled for the new year too along with outdoor activity in public spaces for toddlers. Keep an eye out!

We are also able to offer support via phone or video chat. Contact us to discuss a programme to suit your needs.
"Parenting doesn't come with a manual! When you attend one of our parenting programmes, nobody's parenting skills are ever judged."

Sheffield Parent Hub What's On Guide
Your baby's almost an adult, or at least that's what he or she thinks. So, life at home can be a little strained. Maybe your 13-year-old son grunts instead of speaking to you. Or your 14-year-old daughter wants to go to parties with people you don't even know. It's not that you've got a "wild" kid. You'd just like to make sure things don't get out of hand.
If this sounds like you, then this Triple P Seminar may suit. Seminars are 90-minute talks to large groups on a number of different topics.

Sleep Support
As we head towards the end of 2020 and think about all this year has brought - the disruption for our children and ourselves as parents - we may need to start to think about some of our daily routines that may have been affected.
Many of our staff are trained Sleep Practitioners, and The Sheffield Parent Hub work closely with Dr. Heather Elphick (Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine), and the Sleep Service Team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Our Parent Group Leaders
In Sheffield we are very fortunate to deliver the Empowering Parents Empowering Communities Being a Parent programme and we have many dedicated Parent Group Leader volunteers who have gone through the training and are now delivering Being a Parent Groups.
Our wonderful Parent Group Leader volunteers have not only been running groups in English, but also in Mandarin, Arabic and Roma/Slovak as well as groups for families with children with a diagnosis of Autism and for co parenting couples either living together or in separate homes.
Please see this video and help us to say a great big thank you to all the Sheffield Parent Group Leaders who have given up their precious time this year to support Sheffield families.
THANK YOU! 😊
