More COVID Secure Taxis
Thank you for keeping our city moving in these difficult times.
We hope 2021 will see us begin to get back to doing more of the things we enjoy. But next few months will be difficult, so we all need keep doing the basics (hands, face, space), to stay safe and keep Sheffield open for business.
As a taxi driver, we know you need simple ways to help you stay safer at work.
Lots of contact with people in small spaces lets COVID 19 spread easily. So our public health team have put together some advice specifically for you drivers below. They are also arranging to get some free packs of good quality face coverings, hand sanitiser out to you. You can collect a pack on Tuesday 22nd of December, between 11am - 3pm at the Pakistan Muslim Centre Woodbourn Road Sheffield S9 3LQ. All Sheffield’s taxi drivers are encouraged to take advantage of the Covid-secure packs on offer.
-
Open your windows to let fresh air in
-
Ask your passengers wear a face covering
-
Clean those parts of the vehicle your passengers may have touched
-
Avoid hugging and shaking hands, even with friends and other drivers
-
Wrap up warm and chat outside, not in your car or cab.
Any contact increases the likelihood of catching COVID. Best thing to protect yourself is to stay socially distanced with anyone who you do not live with or is not in your `household bubble`.
For national advice for drivers, please see the link below
When driving a taxi or private hire vehicle. Before and after a journey. Clean vehicle touch points. Sanitise or wash hands. Ventilate vehicle for 5 mins. On a journey. Open windows, don’t recirculate air. Wear a face covering, if possible. Ask passengers to sit as far from you as possible
For your passengers
You should ask your passenger if they have symptoms, or had a positive test in the past 10 day. If they have, you should refuse them service.
Passengers must wear a face covering in a taxi or PHV, unless they are exempt. You can refuse to take a passenger if they are not wearing a face covering and they are not exempt.
There are national rules for passengers. For more information click here or below.
