Understanding your
child's digital world

Lynn Findlay at The Foster Care Cooperative has produced this very helpful and informative article looking at how you can support your child’s digital world with school work, homework and communicating with school. Well worth a read.

Paul Blomfield MP

“Big Conversation” with Paul Blomfield MP; Friday 23 September 10-12pm

Paul Blomfield MP holds an annual community consultation, the Big Conversation, to listen to people's concerns and then bring them to Parliament.

This meeting is an opportunity for parents and carers to talk to Paul about support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

It takes place at St Mary's Church & Conference Centre, Bramall Lane, S2 4QZ and you can book via Sheffield Parent Carer Forum here.

£300 Grants for Young Carers

Do you know a young carer who is isolated and in need of a break? Is lack of money stopping them from getting much-needed respite? If so, the Young Carers Activity Fund could help.

Sheffield Young Carers administer the Young Carers Activity Fund on behalf of Sheffield City Council to give young carers aged under 18 up to £300 to fund a break from their caring role.

This could include things like music lessons, spa days, a gym membership or activity equipment for home like a trampoline, a magazine or film subscription, or a computer.

Testimonials include: “I would just like to say a very big thank you for my grant! I have been able to buy all the sports clothing & equipment that I needed and I now feel really well prepared and comfortable... It has also meant that my Mum doesn’t have to worry about finding money… which has helped a lot!”

The closing date for applications is Thursday 6 October 2016.

For details and application criteria, please visit the website. If you need any further information, please email Laura Selby or call 0114 258 4595.

Our Fave Places

Our Favourite Places

Here at Parents' Assembly Towers, we're big fans of Our Favourite Places, the Sheffield city guide with a cultural heart.

Our Favourite Places is a celebration of our city, the people, the places, the hills - and is packed full of things to see and do.

Again, well worth a look.
