Somerset Council has announced that there will be no recycling or rubbish collections taking place on Bank Holiday Monday.
Collection days will change across Somerset following the bank holiday on Monday, 26 May. All collections will move back one day.

Chair of Somerset Council Mike Best has visited the Ukrainian Embassy in London to progress collaboration between Somerset and the Vinnytsia region in Ukraine.
Somerset Council was approached by the Ukrainian Embassy to explore a non-legally binding cooperation agreement between Somerset and the region for an initial period of 5 years.

A partial road closure in Church Street, Bridgwater, is due to come into effect on Monday 2 June as part of the town’s Celebration Mile roadworks.
The part-closure will also affect the eastern area of Eastover to allow Somerset Council’s contractors Taylor Woodrow to install new kerb lines and resurface pavements. The work is expected to be finished by the end of July.

With storms and ice galore over the past few months, Somerset Council’s winter-ready team went out 1,679 times this winter covering more than 117,000 miles of Somerset’s roads.
Teams from the council’s highways maintenance and winter service partner, Kier worked hard throughout the cold weather to treat the network and help prevent the formation ice.

A permanent road closure notice is being issued by Somerset Council to ensure the continued safety of the public at a location in west Somerset.
The B3191 Cleeve Hill near Watchet was closed in January 2023 after cliff movement near the road was reported. A further geotechnical survey recommended it be kept closed for an indefinite period and this was done under a temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TRO).

So far this year, more than 500 kgs of smart tech have been donated for reuse – that’s 1,049 individual items! Thank you to everyone who has donated their pre-loved tech.

Please bring along your old and unused tech, including laptops, tablets, mobile phones, digital cameras and other smart devices – data will be securely wiped and refurbished by Donate It before items are gifted back into the community.
