An innovative new Therapeutic Education provision will be opening in Somerset in September, offering places for children and young people with additional and SEND needs.
The Education service in Misterton, owned by the Diocese of Bath and Wells, will be run by Horizon’s Therapeutic Education Trust. Somerset Council jointly funded the service with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, and delivered the refurbishment works through Futures for Somerset and Qube.
This initiative is part of a Strategic Partnership between Somerset Council, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Shaw Trust.

Somerset and Exmoor Coast Festival, due to start on September 21, has announced a major partnership which will see organisers working with a project co-founded by TV presenter Julia Bradbury.
The Festival has signed up The Outdoor Guide as a partner and will be raising funds for its Outdoor Guide Foundation project to supply waterproofs and wellies to primary schools so more pupils can enjoy the outdoors whatever the weather

The next stage of traffic controls to allow works for the planned Agratas battery facility will start in Bridgwater next month.
The works, being carried out by Agratas’s contractor, JSM Group Services Ltd, are needed to install underground power cables connecting the Gravity site in Puriton to Bridgwater’s electricity substation.

Today (6 September) we proudly raised the Emergency Services Day flag to honour and support our incredible Emergency Services.
The ceremony was hosted at County Hall in Taunton by the Chair of Somerset Council, Councillor Mike Best, and the Mayor of Taunton, Councillor Vanessa Garside.
The Emergency Services Day Flag will be flown at all Somerset Council’s main offices leading up to National Emergency Services Day on 9 September.
