The Orange Button scheme recognises people within our communities who have completed quality assured mental health or suicide prevention training.
Since launching the scheme in October 2022, we’ve established a countywide network of over 1,000 Orange Button holders who are qualified to talk about suicide, can listen non-judgementally and help people to find support locally.

NHS Somerset and Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership (SASP) have launched a new campaign to prevent falls by elderly people wearing sloppy slippers.
Adults in Somerset can attend a series of roadshows and receive a free pair of properly fitted slippers, plus info and advice from experts on how to prevent falls.
With the cold weather set to last for at least another week, don't forget that libraries across the county are Warm Welcome Spaces. This means that you’re welcome to come in and sit, read, use the computers, attend groups, use the free guest Wi-Fi and there’s no limit on the time you spend with us.
We also have coat exchanges in our libraries in Taunton, Yeovil, Ilminster, Chard and Dulverton. If you’re in need of a warm winter coat, you don't have to bring one in to exchange, you can just take what you need. We also have children's coats available too!
