Please encourage residents to keep testing
England has entered Step 4 of the COVID-19 roadmap with no restrictions in place.
We're continuing to remind residents to take a regular lateral flow test at home or at one of our Community Testing sites until further notice.
The mobile COVID testing unit at Bingham Market Place will now only be visiting on a Tuesday until further notice.
Remember if anyone has symptoms they should book a test.
Signage at our Council sites informs Councillors, staff, residents and visitors to 'please wear a face covering should you wish to'.
For any questions, please email media@rushcliffe.gov.uk.
Meanwhile at Nottingham University Hospitals including QMC and City Hospital, those attending the sites still need wear a face mask, use hand gel and socially distance two metres until further notice to help keep vulnerable patients and staff safe.
Those who are 16 and over can now Grab A Jab at selected sites
Anyone aged 16 or 17 can still walk in for their COVID-19 vaccination at selected sites without needing to book an appointment. Locally to Rushcliffe the closest are at Forest Recreation Ground and Queen’s Medical Centre.
Other sites are not able to offer the service to 16 and 17 year olds due to the additional training and safety requirements for vaccinating those under 18.
Those aged 18 and over can still receive a vaccination by walking into any vaccination site in Nottinghamshire, including at Gamston, for a jab.
Those eligible can also get a vaccine without an appointment and those who have had their first dose 56 days ago (eight weeks) can walk in for their second dose.
For all enquiries on Vaccination appointments please visit Nottingham and Nottinghamshire’s CCG website.
Go Green for September!
To celebrate both Zero Waste Week (6-10 September) and National Recycle Week (20- 26 September) the County Council, in partnership with Veolia, are running a Notts Recycles Go Green for September Campaign, which is a month-long campaign based on Reduce, Reuse and Recycle messages.
The challenge will run from today, September 1, to September 30 and offers residents the opportunity to sign up and join the fight against climate change.
The Go Green campaign asks residents to take small actions that will make big differences. Residents who sign up to the campaign will receive a daily dose of green goodness along with a challenge from 1st September direct to their inbox.
Residents can sign up to receive daily tips and challenges. The challenges which are based around reducing, reusing and recycling, are small everyday swaps, but if everyone does them, they will help make a really big difference.

We celebrate the inaugural Nottinghamshire Day!
The first Nottinghamshire Day was held last Wednesday, August 25, where we joined the County Council and fellow partners in celebrating being proud of Nottinghamshire!
A largely virtual celebration this year across social media and other digital channels, we still got out and about showcasing some of our fantastic Rushcliffe businesses and some of our brilliant front line teams!
The Nottinghamshire Flag was raised at the Arena by our Deputy Mayor Cllr Tina Combellack before she attended official celebrations at County Hall with our Growth and Development Scrutiny Group Chairman Cllr Neil Clarke.
People from all over the Borough were encouraged to take part using the hashtag #NottsDay and some businesses also offered discounts as part of a wider #ShopLocal campaign
As ever check out @RushcliffeBorough on Facebook, @rushcliffe_bc on Instagram and @rushcliffe on Twitter to see how we celebrated on the day in line with coverage from local media.
Leaflets delivered to residents reminding them to #GrabAJab
Our brilliant waste teams are continuing to deliver leaflets to selected parts of the Borough reminding residents to #GrabAJab!
As featured above, anyone aged 16 or 17 can now walk in for their COVID-19 vaccination at selected sites and staff and Councillors have recently been encouraging constituents to ensure they are vaccinated.
Pictured in the image above from top left to right is our Leader Cllr Simon Robinson with the waste team in West Bridgford, Cllr Christine Jeffreys and Cllr Richard Butler with crews in Cotgrave and Ruddington Parish Cllr Graham Fletcher with the team collecting in Ruddington.
Pictured on the bottom right is Cllr Leo Healy visiting the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG vaccine bus team at Cotgrave Leisure Centre on August 13, which received a steady flow of residents.
Cllr Healy said: "Whilst I had all my vaccinations earlier in the year, I still tested positive for COVID some weeks ago and whilst I had symptoms, they were very mild which cleared up very quickly during my isolation period at home thanks to the vaccinations.
"I would encourage everybody eligible to 'Grab a Jab' and ensure that your life can continue as normal, whilst following all the relevant safety guidelines."

Ruddington allotment project receives vital Reach Rushcliffe funding
A group that manages a Ruddington allotment has received vital funding from Reach Rushcliffe to help redevelop their gardening space to aid local residents’ health and mental wellbeing.
The Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Group run a plot at the Ruddington Paradise Gardens Allotments that has received funds that will assist with the purchase of a summer house, planters, plants, soil and paving to give the allotment more accessibility at its Wilford Road site in the village.
The space was donated by Ruddington Parish Council and will give those at risk of social isolation or loneliness a quiet space to socialise, learn about gardening and to meet with likeminded residents, now linking with our initiative which launched last year.

Remember to give your views on air quality plans for Trent Bridge and A52 at Stragglethorpe
Residents, groups and the wider public are being encouraged to give their views on an Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) seeking to reduce air pollutants in and around Trent Bridge and the A52 at the Stragglethorpe junction.
We are now asking for views on the plan available to view here: https://bit.ly/2UxABEp
All views can be made via the online survey, by emailing environmentalhealth@rushcliffe.gov.uk or in writing to: Environmental Health Manager, Rushcliffe Borough Council, Rushcliffe Arena, Rugby Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7YG until September 6.

Waste team wish Bingham resident happy 90th birthday!
Craig, Tom and Tim who work in our waste team last Thursday gave a Bingham resident a 90th birthday surprise of flowers, chocolates and wine!
Joan Wakefield received the gifts and her daughter posted the above photos on social media with the following comment:
"I just wanted to say my mum has been a Bingham resident for 65yrs, she will be 90 on Saturday. The wonderful bin men today gave her a wonderful early 90th surprise that really made her day. With such awful times at the moment it’s lovely to know others care."
We join forces with multiple agencies to enforce taxi safety checks!
A multi-agency operation last month saw dozens of taxis thoroughly assessed as part of safety checks to further protect passengers across Rushcliffe and neighbouring districts.
Drivers were stopped and directed to our depot site in the city on August 6 to ensure they were fit and proper to drive and their vehicles were roadworthy, insured and met specified standards.
Our Licencing Officer Dave Roberts joined forces with those from Nottingham City Council, Gedling Borough Council, Ashfield District Council, Erewash Borough Council, Wolverhampton City Council, Peterborough City Council, the Vehicle Driving Standards Agency and Nottinghamshire Police to make the checks.
No Rushcliffe based licenced drivers who were stopped were found to have any faults with their vehicles or licences but in total four Prohibition Notices were issued, two immediate for defective tyres and two delayed for a damaged alloy wheel and a leaking axle contaminating a rear brake. The vehicles licences were all suspended.
Meanwhile three had Vehicle Defect Forms issued for defective tyres and a defective light.
A single vehicle was found with a missing rear plate, one vehicle had an expired plate and one driver had an expired driver’s badge.

Please alert landlords to forum on September 8
Please inform landlords in your area that East Midlands Property Owners (EMPO) is hosting the Nottingham and District Landlord Forum on Wednesday September 8 from 1pm at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground.
The event is in partnership with DASH Accreditation and representatives from our local councils.
The forum will be a great opportunity for landlords to get up to speed with the important housing legislation changes over the past 18 months. The forum will also provide an opportunity for new landlords to find out more on what their responsibilities are in providing decent and safe housing across the Nottinghamshire area.
Likewise, the forum will assist seasoned landlords in refreshing their knowledge as professional property managers.
The event will also be available online for those landlords/agents who may feel uncomfortable about participating in a live in-person forum or who are unable to attend. Face mask wearing is encouraged at the forum to reduce risks associated with COVID-19.
Landlords can visit the event page for more information and to book their place.
Domestic servitude – know the signs and how to help those in need
The real-life story of a survivor of domestic servitude has become the inspiration behind a new online animation.
It highlights the signs, raises awareness and encourages reporting of this hidden crime that typically involves victims working in a private family home where they are ill-treated, humiliated, subjected to unbearable conditions or working hours and made to work for little or no pay.
Over the last two years, there has been a specific increase in reports of domestic servitude within the West Yorkshire area an example of this issue, indicating women from Pakistan and Bangladesh are being brought to the UK and exploited in domestic homes. As well as English, the animation has therefore been translated into Urdu, Punjabi and Bengali with subtitles.
View the videos and ensure you know the key signs and indicators to help those in need. Victims can be a spouse, partner, child, family member, male, female, young or old, UK or Foreign National.

Encourage residents to have their say in the Big Notts Survey!
The Big Notts Survey was recently launched, through which the County Council are seeking feedback from residents and stakeholders to help shape the vision and priorities for their next Council Plan.
They are asking residents to share their experiences of the pandemic, what they see as the challenges and opportunities for recovery, and their longer-term aspirations for themselves, their community, and Nottinghamshire as a whole.
Please encourage residents in your area to take part by completing the online survey at nottinghamshire.gov.uk/bignottssurvey by September 19.
