Please encourage residents to keep testing
 England has entered Step 4 of the COVID-19 roadmap with no restrictions in place.
The Prime Minister has stated that all should continue to wear face coverings in crowded or enclosed areas, such as public transport.
We're continuing to remind residents to take a regular lateral flow test at home or at one of our Community Testing sites until further notice.
Remember if anyone has symptoms they should book a test.
Signage at our Council sites informs all to 'please wear a face covering should you wish to'.

Meanwhile at Nottingham University Hospitals including QMC and City Hospital, those attending the sites still need wear a face mask, use hand gel and socially distance two metres until further notice to help keep vulnerable patients and staff safe.
Those who are 16 and over can now Grab A Jab at selected sites
 Anyone aged 16 or 17 can now walk in for their COVID-19 vaccination at selected sites without needing to book an appointment. Locally to Rushcliffe the closest are at Forest Recreation and Queen’s Medical Centre.
Those aged 18 and over can still receive a vaccination by walking into any vaccination site in Nottinghamshire, including at Gamston, for a jab.
Those eligible can also get a vaccine without an appointment and those who have had their first dose 56 days ago (eight weeks) can walk in for their second dose.

Inspiring free outdoor theatre at Bridgford Park this Saturday, August 21
 Inspiring free outdoor theatre is set to entertain residents and visitors to Bridgford Park in West Bridgford this Saturday, August 21, with two performances perfect for all ages, courtesy of funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Guests can enjoy Quantum Theatre’s ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny’ from 2pm to 3.30pm and ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ from 6pm to 8pm, including intervals.
We are ensuring the event acknowledges the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions but will still provide hand sanitisation stations.
Families and individuals are invited to bring picnic chairs and snacks to each showing so they can sit back, relax and enjoy the productions with a food and drink outlet, sweet stall and bar available on site at the park.

Skaters young and old embrace Country Park's new skate park's official opening
 Beginners and women and girls joined together at Rushcliffe Country Park’s new skate park to have a go at the sport as part of official opening celebrations on Saturday August 14.
The sessions were provided by Skate Nottingham and included women, girls, including non-binary or LGBTQ+, with instructors on hand for guidance and then all BMX and wheeled sports joined the jam from 11.30am.
The £210,000 skate park opened in June, perfectly timed to capture the legacy of great achievements by Britain’s skateboarding and BMX athletes at Tokyo’s 2020 Olympics and was funded by Rushcliffe Borough Council and supported by Skate Nottingham, Canvas Spaces, and VIA East Midlands.
Prizes were awarded for various achievements, from beginner level through to advanced.

ASB – know who to contact
 In line with our Community Safety operations, we’re reminding local residents and groups in and connected to Rushcliffe on who to contact should they experience anti-social behaviour (ASB).
We’re aware this can be a wide ranging matter affecting many organisations and individuals and when it occurs may be necessary to inform Police, a housing provider or ourselves here at Rushcliffe Borough Council depending on the nature of the problem.
For example in the case with threats or verbal abuse or malicious communication, certain incidents may be considered a criminal offence and these should always be reported to and dealt with by Police by calling 101, 999 in an emergency or via report a crime.
You may contact us here at RBC on 0115 981 9911 with calls recorded and the customer directed to local Police with consent, our online form or the national ASB help service.
We will help and advise and may suggest or refer to another agency such as the Police but may also investigate or work with Police or a social landlord in line with our ASB policy.

Remember to give your views on air quality plans for Trent Bridge and A52 at Stragglethorpe
 Residents, groups and the wider public are being encouraged to give their views on an Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) seeking to reduce air pollutants in and around Trent Bridge and the A52 at the Stragglethorpe junction.

We are set to deliver the plan along with partners until April 2026 to reduce concentrations of air pollutants and exposure to air pollution in both locations currently designated Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs).
Local authorities have a central role in achieving improvements in air quality. Through the Local Air Quality Management (LAQM) system local authorities are required to assess air quality in their area and designate Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) if improvements are necessary.

Pringles tubes, coffee and hot chocolate containers now accepted at recycling bring sites
 Our residents can now recycle Pringles tubes, coffee and hot chocolate tubs with metal ends at Tetra Pak recycling facilities at local bring banks across the Borough.
These new items also including croissant dough cans can now be recycled in the dedicated bring banks in addition to orange juice, chopped tomato and milk cartons and soya milk and custard Tetra Pak items.
It’s part of our new partnership with the Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE UK), which means that the items can be deposited at the sites instead of being placed in the grey bin at home.

Our Cabinet Portfolio for Environment and Safety Cllr Rob Inglis said: “Previously Pringles tubes, coffee and hot chocolate tubs could not be recycled with our contractors, but we’re delighted these further items can now be recycled at our dedicated bring banks.
“We’re really enthused by how our residents respond to new items they can recycle and we find the bring bank facilities mean more items can be recycled than compared with an equivalent kerbside collection.

Swimming pool and spectator area at Bingham Arena taking shape!
  Our Bingham Arena project is continuing with architects and construction consultants YMD Boon providing an update that the new 25m swimming pool and seating for 300 spectators are being built!
The work is taking place in partnership with Willmott Dixon as contractor and Henry Riley as external project managers.
It’s also with the support from key partners Parkwood Leisure, Bingham Town Council and funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

Help to Grow funding available from Central Government
 The government’s new Help to Grow: Management programme can help business owners learn new skills, reach more customers and boost their profits.
The programme costs £750 and is 90% subsidised by the government as part of their Plan for Jobs.
It is a practical management training programme with one-to-one mentorship, aimed at senior leaders of small and medium businesses and delivered across the UK by leading business schools accredited by the Small Business Charter.
Designed to be manageable alongside full-time work, the 12-week programme offers a wide range of modules, including financial management, strategies for growth and innovation, leading high-performance teams, and approaches to digital adoption.

Work continuing on our Gresham site
 Work is continuing on the £1.2m renovation work on our Gresham sports pavilion and playing pitches.
Earlier this year we were awarded a grant from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation, to install a new full size floodlit 3G football turf pitch, refurbishment of its existing 3G pitch and upgrade of the existing grass pitches at the Gresham Sports Park facility.
Construction operatives have been working hard on site recently and have nearly completed the kerbing for the new pitch, half of the footpaths have now been completed and they have started installing the ducting for the floodlighting.
Those on site are going to be working towards completing all the above and continuing reinstating the topsoil around the perimeter of the pitch.
Encourage residents to have their say in the Big Notts Survey!
 The Big Notts Survey was recently launched, through which the County Council are seeking feedback from residents and stakeholders to help shape the vision and priorities for their next Council Plan.
They are asking residents to share their experiences of the pandemic, what they see as the challenges and opportunities for recovery, and their longer-term aspirations for themselves, their community, and Nottinghamshire as a whole.
Please encourage residents in your area to take part by completing the online survey at nottinghamshire.gov.uk/bignottssurvey by September 19.
Residents urged to respond to electoral canvass emails
 Residents across the Borough are receiving an email asking them to confirm their household details to ensure they are registered to vote for future elections as part of our electoral canvass.
Those who have received an email can visit www.householdresponse.com/rushcliffe
In order to complete the online response they will need their security codes, which have been provided by the correspondence from us and their postcode.
If residents add any new people at their address they will also need to complete a registration application. They can do this at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and we will send each person a form if they do not apply online.
If no response is received to the email and for properties where we do not hold an email address, a paper form will be posted in the coming weeks. If a paper form is received residents should follow the instructions and respond where necessary.
Have your say on how ‘No Mow’ Rushcliffe summer pollinator sites are managed
 A reminder we are asking residents to give their views on our current trial ‘No Mow’ summer pollinator sites that are encouraging wildlife and habitats to thrive even further and how these spaces are managed going forward.
Our online summer pollinator survey is now available for residents to give their views on the managed sites at https://bit.ly/364kAri until September 30.
It follows action by our Grounds Maintenance contractors Streetwise to not mow selected areas across the Borough to help create the natural corridors for local wildlife.
All trial areas are on land that we are responsible for:
- Gotham Road, East Leake
- Miss Machin’s field, Edwalton
- Stamford Road allotment entrance, Gamston
- Abbey Circus, West Bridgford
- Abbey Park, West Bridgford
- The Hook, around the play area, Lady Bay
- Other smaller non-recreational areas
All sites feature signage stating ‘please excuse the weeds, we are feeding the bees!’.
This sustainable management of the open spaces helps to not only mitigate the impact of climate change but supports our Carbon Clever initiative and its commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030.
