BBSRC Follow-on Fund - Funding to help bridge gaps between early-stage bioscience research and innovation and achieving wider commercial, economic and societal benefit. FoF and Super FoF awards can range from £76k - £800k.

BBSRC Follow-on Fund Committee membership call - CLOSING SOON. We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who have expertise across BBSRC remit to provide robust, credible and evidence-based opinion of the merit of proposals submitted to the BBSRC Follow-on Fund.

BBSRC Bioscience ICURe Explore programme (in collaboration with Innovate UK and ICURe delivery partners) - 12 weeks full-time programme with up to £35,000 funding available to help bioscience research teams get out of the lab and explore the commercial potential of their research/technology. Open to bioscience researchers, PhD students, and technicians.

Impact Accelerator Accounts (IAAs) - IAAs are strategic awards provided to research organisations so they can respond to impact opportunities in flexible, responsive and creative ways. The research organisation is responsible for managing IAAs, to design and deliver activities that best suit their institutional strategies and opportunities.

Support for Collaborative Research & Development (CR&D)

Industrial Partnership Awards (IPAs) and Stand-alone LINK schemes – Applications are made through BBSRC Responsive Mode, which has three rounds per year. Please contact the Business Interaction Unit (business.unit@bbsrc.ukri.org) if you have any specific questions.
IPA: academic-led research with significant industrial involvement and where an industry partner contributes cash at least equivalent to 10% of the full economic costs of the project.
LINK: collaborative research with at least one company where at least 50% of the full project cost comes from industry either in cash or in-kind.

UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund (UKI2S) - UKI2S is a £100M early stage venture fund providing patient capital and support for businesses emerging from the UK’s publicly funded science and knowledge base. UKI2S invests in high-risk businesses to get the most ground-breaking ideas to market; and provides support beyond financial.
Biotechnology Business Incubation Centre (Bio BIC) (in collaboration with STFC) - Located at Daresbury Laboratory in the Liverpool City region, Bio BIC provides an outstanding support package (up to £90k) for biotech start-ups built on leading bioscience research, including up to £45k targeted R&D funding, up to 100 hours access to R&D facilities and ongoing onsite technical advice; IP protection support; networking and introductions to investors, customers, sector stakeholders and next stage funders; and unlimited expert business coaching.
UK Research and Innovation Campuses - BBSRC supports 5 Research and Innovation Campuses that support innovation and enterprise for new or established bioscience companies. Co-located with BBSRC strategically funded Institutes and dedicated infrastructure and expertise, the Campuses also offer bespoke innovation funding opportunities through Campus Impact Accelerator Accounts and access to UKI2S funding.
