Introducing Teach Portsmouth Presents Early Years Education

A new webinar designed to help recruit qualified practitioners for the city's nurseries.

Mindy Butler, Early Years and Childcare Manager will host an upcoming webinar on Monday 17 January from 4pm - 5pm. The webinar is designed to recruit qualified practitioners for early years settings. An apprentice, nursery practitioner and nursery manager, will share their own experiences and inspire others, highlighting the rewards and challenges of early years provision in the city.

Who is the webinar aimed at?

The webinar is aimed at young people considering their next steps after school as well as parents/carers wanting more information on early years education as a career for their young person. Qualified practitioners may also benefit from attending this webinar as it will cover career progression in the sector.

Why now?

The Early Years and Childcare Team are aware of the need to recruit the right practitioners for nurseries in the city. This webinar is designed to capture those at the very start of their careers by communicating the rewards and challenges of becoming a qualified professional. As part of Portsmouth Aspirations Week, the virtual information session will myth bust perceptions as well as promote routes into the profession.

What we need you to do?

Teach Portsmouth and the Early Years and Childcare Team would value your help in promoting the webinar. While your staff may appreciate a refresher on career progression in the sector, we are asking if you could promote it on your website, social media and inside your newsletters to reach young people as well as parents/carers.

Please visit the Teach Portsmouth website on their webinar resources page to download images and example wording which you can use to promote the webinar.

When promoting the webinar online, please encourage people to sign up. Use the URL: www.teachportsmouth.co.uk/webinars where possible. Those who sign up will require the latest version of Zoom video conferencing which can be download from their website.

Reach for the stars!

It's not too early to make New Year resolutions! If you're thinking about what the future might hold for you, you might be interested in Portsmouth Aspirations Week from 17 - 21 January 2022.

During this week, Portsmouth City Council, schools, businesses and local community groups are holding a range of events that aim to inspire children, young people and adults to think about their futures, help them to understand the steps they can take to ensure their own success and the help available to aid them in reaching their goals.

The week is dedicated to giving children, young adults, and residents the opportunity to explore and discuss further education options and future career prospects, as well as broader aspirations such as getting fit, learning a new hobby or going green. Aspirations Week is one of the ways the council is supporting Portsmouth City Vision and part of our commitment to life-long learning.

You can find out more about the events and how to get involved at www.portsmouth.gov.uk/aspirationsweek and by searching for #AspirationsWeek on social media.
