Mental health and wellbeing webinar

Solent Mind is hosting an hour-long interactive virtual webinar to help you stay in control of your mental health and wellbeing. You'll explore what mental health and wellbeing means, have the opportunity to share how you keep it in check and leave the session with some practical tools and techniques to try out for yourself.

The session will take place on Thursday 25 November from 11am to 12pm. Please contact Gareth.spooner@portsmouthcc.gov.uk to book your place. Limited spaces are available.

Weekly yoga classes with Jo Florio

Enjoy stimulating and transformative yoga with Jo Florio. Held each week on Wednesday from 5.10-6.10pm via Zoom, Jo's classes include a warm up, posture practice, breath work and guided meditation. You'll also discover the myths and philosophy behind the practice. 

Regular yoga can improve our wellbeing by supporting a better night's sleep, reducing stress and helping us manage any pains and aches. 

Classes are £6.50 each (pay-as-you-go) and suitable for all, with modified poses available for different abilities or if you have an injury. For more information and booking, please contact Jo Florio on 07952 496348 or by emailing florio.jo@gmail.com

More than 400 colleagues have already requested an e-voucher using our online voucher booking system - and there's still time to request yours!

Simply enter your details on our request form and you will receive an e-voucher with booking instructions within 7 days to your email address. This voucher will allow you to claim a free flu vaccination at participating pharmacies - including Asda, Lloyds, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsburys.

Campaigns for you

Movember is here!

Movember

Movember is held each year to raise money for charity and spread awareness of mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

Other than growing a moustache, you can support the campaign in many ways, and we would especially like to invite men to take action this year and get to know the 5 things they can do to support their wellbeing.

International Stress Awareness week

This week is International Stress Awareness Week 2021. According to the Mental health Foundation, 74% of UK adults have felt overwhelmed or unable to cope with stress at some point over the last year.

For this year's campaign, please pick one action each for your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing to carry out every day, and see how this impacts how your ability to deal pressure and stress. Dealing with pressure and stress is sometimes called emotional resilience - the ability to adapt and bounce back when something difficult happens in your life. Self-care ideas and tips can be found on our stress awareness intranet pages.
