Budget consultation 2022/2023
Like all councils, Portsmouth is facing costs and increases in demand for care services that exceed the funding received from government and local taxpayers.
Once you take out all the things we have no choice about spending money on, we have a budget of £161m and we need to find £1m of savings in 2022/23. This means we have to make more difficult decisions about where to spend and where to save and we would like to know what you think.
The survey is open until 11.59pm on Wednesday 20 October 2021.
Give your feedback on the draft local plan
The Portsmouth Local Plan is a plan for the whole city for the next fifteen years. It sets out where new homes can be built, opportunities for local jobs and the facilities needed, and how to protect the environment and create high-quality public areas.
We have a virtual consultation room where we have split the plan into topics to make it easier for you to view the areas you are interested in.
We're also hosting drop-in events for residents who are not online or who do not get on with the virtual room format.
Could you be a school governor?
Schools across the city are looking for new governors. Bruce Marr, Head of Harm and Exploitation here at the council, has been a governor at Mayfield School for 15 years and is currently the chair of the scrutiny committee. He explains why council employees with a range of skills would make great governors and why he finds the role is so rewarding. Find out what's involved and how to apply.
Return your pool bike
Our pool bikes are a convenient, sustainable and cost-effective choice for making short business journeys around the city. Over the coming months, the safer travel team will be getting all the bikes into full working order.
If you've borrowed a pool bike during lockdown but were unable to return it, please return it now to the designated rack in the Civic Offices car park so that it can be serviced and made ready for use. For any queries please contact poolbikes@portsmouthcc.gov.uk
