You will be aware that the statutory framework for the EYFS has been revised and will come into force in September 2021.

We have a range of universal training events taking place over the summer and autumn terms to support you in understanding the changes and helping you to reflect on your practice and provision.

To find out more about each event (workshop objectives and content) and to book onto any of the training listed below, please visit Early Years and Childcare (portsmouth.gov.uk)

Pre-recorded video of the changes to the statutory EYFS.

Released on 24th May 2021 and available to view until the end of July.

Appropriate for EY group based settings, Child minders and Year R practitioners

LIVE Virtual workshops

9.30-11.30am on 17th June 2021

1.30-3.30pm on 17th June 2021

7-9pm on 17th June 2021

This is an opportunity to hear about the changes and ask questions. Please send in any questions you have prior to the live workshop to eyworkforce@portsmouthcc.gov.uk and we will endeavour to answer these during the session

Appropriate for EY group based settings, Child minders and Year R practitioners

Face to Face Workshops

4-5.30pm 29th June 2021 at Northern Parade Infant School

4-5.30pm 30th June 2021 at Bramble Infant School

4-5.30pm 1st July 2021 at Portsdown Primary School

4-5.30pm 7th July 2021 at Bramble Infant School

There will be limited capacity at each of these venues, therefore we are asking for only one booking per setting to attend the face to face workshops. Booking will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

We are hoping that these face to face sessions will also provide an opportunity for some transition conversations to take place. With this in mind, please try and book a place in the school locality, in which your setting is in.

If you book onto one of these face to face sessions, please watch the pre-recorded video or ensure you have a basic understanding of the changes by accessing any of the nationally available webinars listed below or exploring the revised non-statutory Development Matters or Birth to 5 Matters before attending.

These workshops are appropriate for all EY group based settings, Child minders and Year R practitioners

  • There will be more face to face opportunities to explore the revised EYFS in the autumn term. We will also include advice and guidance on the changes within all of our new training workshops in the new EY training and development programme. Our July podcast (which can be accessed if you have purchased a package from the new programme) will focus on the revised EYFS.
  • Don’t forget, that if you have purchased a package from our EY training and Development Programme 2021-22 you could use your onsite whole staff training to cover the changes to the EYFS and implications for best practice relating to your setting. We are now taking bookings for whole staff training sessions through the new EY programme. Visit Early Years and Childcare (portsmouth.gov.uk) to find out more or watch our launch video here.

Here are the links to the revised framework and some of the non-statutory guidance materials that are available. There are also links to several vodcasts from Foundation Years detailing the revised EYFS and new Development Matters.
