Spotlight on good practice- Autumn Term 2019

Baffins Nature Nursery

Amber Dyer and her team of practitioners hosted an inspiring 'Spotlight on good practice' in December 2019. The workshop was hosted by Amber in her 'pack away' pre-school environment. Quality and Sufficiency Officer, Layla Riches, co-delivered a presentation around the new Ofsted Inspection Framework. A discussion was held about the new Quality of Education judgement and an exploration of the 3 'I's (intent, implementation, impact). Amber talked through her interpretation of the EYFS and how this is delivered in practice. The team shared their approach to outdoor learning, natural resources, 'eco-friendly focus' and child led experiences. Attendees were invited to stay after the presentation to tour the setting with the practitioners.

Spotlight's are held every term and are hosted by a Portsmouth early years setting. They are an opportunity to highlight a specific area of good practice that they are proud of and has been recognised by the Early Years and Childcare Service. If you would like to be considered to host a Spotlight please email eydelivery@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

Remember, if you have bought a training and development package you have one free place on the Spotlights and you can use your other workshop places or pay for extra places.

A big thank you to Amber and her team for hosting the event.

Ofsted will soon be running a series of Education Inspection Framework (EIF) roadshows for Early Years (EY) providers. These events will be held regionally across the country, between February and March this year and will offer the opportunity to find out about the key aspects of the EIF.

These half-day events will offer the opportunity to learn about early emerging findings from the EIF.

Two representatives from your provider are welcome to attend each session. Each person attending will need to register separately. Current Ofsted Inspectors (OIs) should not attend this event.

Please note that there is no charge for attending one of these events.

Spaces are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

If you are interested in attending one of these events, please register for your place here where you will be able to find timings, locations and venue details.

When registering for an event, please select the ‘Early Years’ remit and then select your regional location.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at events@ofsted.gov.uk should you have any questions.
