Only Rain down the drain campaign

Pull on your wellies and get involved in our ‘Only Rain Down the Drain’ campaign in Poole Park on Thursday 12th July.

The event features art in the park and support and advice from Litter Free Coast and Sea. Or why not learn all about how water (and anything else) that goes into a roadside drain ends up straight in the lagoon in Poole Park.

If you fancy getting involved, make sure you wear your wellies and old clothes; we will have gloves, litter pickers and tools available.

Find out more at our Lagoon Volunteer event tomorrow, Thursday 12th July, or read more here.

Community success for Talbot Heath Wildlife Celebration Day

What a day! The Talbot Heath Wildlife Day on Saturday 30th June saw conservation groups, wildlife experts, and volunteers invite the local community to explore the incredible diversity of plants and animals that make their home on this special nature reserve.

The event was organised by the Natural Habitats team, and aimed to connect local people with the incredibly rare and unusual creatures living right on their doorstep. Engaging with local residents and users’ is crucial in helping them to understand the impact of threats to the heath, such as litter, antisocial behaviour, fire, and disturbance by pets and people.

The day was remarkably well attended in spite of the heat, with hundreds of people – young and old – enjoying craft activities, scavenger hunts, bug-hunting, and more, as well as some great conversations which all added up to a lovely community event.

Volunteers were absolutely instrumental to the day, and a generous lunch courtesy of Talbot Heath Sainsbury’s was very well received and more than deserved! A massive thank you to them, and everyone involved in the event!
