Get walking this May

May is National Walking Month and Poole’s open spaces are the perfect place to get involved with an organised or self-led walk.

The Poole Health Walks Scheme offers a number of free, led walks, which take place every week. All walks are short in length, typically between 1 and 2 miles and take place on firm level ground and are led by trained volunteer Walk Leaders. The walks take in some of Poole's most picturesque locations including Upton Country Park, Poole Park, Canford Heath and Delph Woods.

We also have information and maps for self-led routes through Poole including the Bourne Valley Greenway, Stour Valley Way, Cockle Trail and more.

Wildflower meadows

This Spring Borough of Poole is once again preparing areas for wildflower meadows. You may notice some bare areas in the verges at the sides of roads – this is where the vegetation has been cleared to provide bare ground for the meadow seeds. Keep watching as the seeds develop into colourful meadows later this year.

National Volunteers' Week

Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution that volunteers make across the UK. In Poole we have some fantastic volunteers and community groups who make a huge contribution to our open spaces.

There are lots of ways that you can get involved in looking after parks, nature reserves and community gardens. Whether you’re interested in gardening, recording wildlife, picking litter, or something else you’ll find something to interest you on the Enviroteers website.
