Vulnerabilities and Exploitation Training

We are partnering with the Essex Safeguarding Children Board based at Essex County Council to deliver an online training package specifically for any public facing employees.  The training package is designed to give awareness and explanation of vulnerabilities for adults and children, covering CSE, signs of exploitation, gangs, county lines, modern slavery, domestic servitude, sexual exploitation, and missing people.

The training will encourage your staff to engage with children and adults and think about their vulnerability. Do they look disorientated or frightened? Unkept, lost or confused? Are they accompanied by some one that doesn’t suit them and are you concerned that they are being controlled? We want to ensure people get the help they need to break the cycle that is controlling their lives.

The training package lasts for 90 minutes and is free of charge.

It is maybe something that can be offered to new employees as part of an induction or to existing employees to widen their knowledge of such subjects?

If this something you would be interested in being involved with and would like to know more then please contact us at business.crime.team@essex.police.uk

Pc Glen Foote

Meet our new team member PC Glen Foote

This month we would like to welcome PC Glen Foote to the team as our newest recruit. Glen comes to us with sizable experience in partnership working and community issues.

Glen said: “Across my career I have experienced a wide variety of uniformed policing and working with our communities and partners, most recently working at the Lakeside shopping centre on the Community Policing Team for the past five years.

"I recognise the value of working together and sharing best practice to solve the issues we face. This mindset ,with a drive for continual improvement, is what attracted me to the Business Crime Team. I am very excited to get to work and build wider relationships.”

Glen will be taking a lead in the west of Essex and looks forward to helping you all with any issues you have.

Focus on cybercrime

This year one of our main focuses will be cybercrime and the effects it has on your organisations. We will be looking to see what advice and guidance we can give you to be best prepared against these attacks.

We want to set the alarm on cybercrime. The scale and complexity of cyber attacks is wide ranging. 'Off the shelf' tools mean that less technically proficient criminals are now able to commit cyber crime and do so as awareness of the potential profits becomes more widespread.

Cyber attacks are financially devastating, disruptive and upsetting to people and businesses. We are looking to highlight the importance of cyber security working with the Eastern Cyber Resilience Centre and Police CyberAlarm.

For further information please contact us at business.crime.team@essex.police.uk where we can look to help and also involve Essex Police's new Cyber Protect Officer to give you an understanding of what can be done.

When and how to contact the Police

We understand that businesses are extremely busy and not always clear on the most appropriate method to contact the police. If you would like to report business related crime or antisocial behaviour, which is not an emergency you can use our online digital 101 service at www.essex.police.uk We also have a live chat facility at the bottom of our website or if you prefer to speak to someone you can call 101.

Alternatively if an incident is happening right now, and it feels like the situation could get heated or violent very soon or someone is in immediate danger? Please call 999. If you're deaf or hard of hearing, you can use our textphone service 18000 or text us on 999 if you’ve pre-registered with the emergency SMS service.

If you have ongoing business crime concerns you can contact the Business Crime Team at business.crime.team@essex.police.uk
