The Plymouth City Centre Company appoints new Chief Executive Steve Hughes will join the company at the beginning of August fresh from leading the Bournemouth Town Centre Business Improvement District. Mr Hughes was instrumental in increasing footfall in Bournemouth Town Centre by 12%, compared with a UK High Street average of -1.1%. To read the full story, click here. |

Plymouth to lead the UK in developing cyber security skills Michael Dieroff, Managing Director of Plymouth based BluescreenIT (BIT), has been selected as chairman of the Digital Policy Alliance’s Cyber Skills Group. She Means Business national campaign kick starts in Plymouth More than 50 female entrepreneurs attended Facebook’s and Enterprise Nation’s first event of their national tour here in Plymouth, organised by Plymouth City Council and the Formation Zone. Picture Perfect Partnership for Ocean Studios Fotonow CIC will be RIO’s first new tenants at Ocean Studios thanks to a deal which will see them make Royal William Yard their new home, taking on office space, the photography studio, dark room and media suite. Fotonow will also work with RIO to create an exciting programme of workshops, short courses and activity at Ocean Studios to promote creativity through photography and filmmaking. The Growth Support Programme is an EU funded support package which offers an initial 3 hour diagnostic to businesses wishing to grow or expand. An expert will help put together a development plan for your business and identify areas where additional support (up to an additional 9 hours) could be of benefit.
A FREE skills boost for Plymouth businesses
Learndirect is offering free training options tailored to businesses specific challenges funded through the European Social Fund. Through their own delivery and supply chain partners they can draw from hundreds of available courses and qualifications to create a training package to meet your needs.
£5,000 Sustainable travel grant available
Plymouth City Council is offering businesses across the city the opportunity to bid for funding through their Plymotion Sustainable Travel Grant Scheme. Match funded grants of up to £5,000 are available to provide facilities or initiatives to encourage employees to travel more sustainably to work.
A series of FREE to attend online workshops for anyone interested in starting, growing, funding or proving the impact of a social enterprise run by Iridescent Ideas. Further details can be found under the 'Events' section.

Plymouth University presents an opportunity for businesses and organisations to engage and collaborate with the very best creative design talent in the South West. Businesses can tap into a multi-disciplinary collaborative design service, supported by an award winning team of academic-practitioners with access to cutting-edge resources and technology.

AHF launches heritage mortgage scheme for the UK
Offering mortgage style loans of between £150,000 and £500,000 to assist registered charities and not-for-profit organisations in the UK to acquire buildings, or provide working capital for restoration projects.
