Educating children to the pitfalls of crime and anti-social behaviour
On 12 September we attended Leigh Beck primary school on Canvey and gave a anti-social behaviour presentation to three classes of year 6 children.
Our intention is to make children aware of some of the issues they may experience as they move into secondary schools and how to identify and avoid becoming involved in crime and anti-social behaviour. The children were very engaging and asked many questions!
Thank you to staff at the school for giving us the opportunity to run this first session of the school year.

Prior to the weekend we were notified of a planned 'Wide and Slow' awareness event in Thundersley, highlighting the importance of passing horses in the road safely and without causing any issues. With ten riders supported by friends and family, the procession commenced at 10am on 14 September.
The route started at the Woodmans Arms public house car park, into Hart Road, Kenneth Road, returning via Kiln Road and Rayleigh Road. Officers attended to ensure that road users were safe and prevent any disruption.
We are pleased to report that the event passed peacefully and without issue. Thank you to all of the drivers who may have been delayed by this event, your patience is appreciated.

How safe is your flat?
Although there are fewer points of entry to a flat, they need to be as well protected as possible. As for overall building security, all residents need to keep an eye and an ear out as well as making sure that communal front and back doors are never left open.
Be fraud smart
Scam alert!
We have seen an increase in reports of criminals calling people pretending to be from Amazon, saying that your account has been hacked. They will then proceed to ask to access your device where they will encourage you to open a Revolute account to secure a refund.
These criminals are experts at persuasion, as you are speaking to someone on the phone it can seem more real.
STOP!
If anyone asks for access to your personal accounts or details always take a moment to check, they are who they say they are. Hang up and contact them directly or check your account through a trusted source.
The dog next door is always barking. What can I do?
You should speak to your neighbour about the problem as they may not be aware that it is happening.
Unless there is any evidence of the dog being mistreated then the RSPCA will not be able to help. If you do believe that the dog is being mistreated, you can contact the RSPCA via their telephone number 0300 1234 999.
The noise could be classed as a noise nuisance so you would need to report it to the Environmental Health department at your local authority.
