CFRS Weekly Update - 03.04.2023
A message from the CFO
Saturday (1 April 2023) marked a day which has been at the top of the agenda in local government in Cumbria for over 18 months now.
Peter McCall, the Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner, is now officially responsible for the governance of Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service. The formation of the two new councils, Cumberland and Westmorland & Furness are now also complete.
Many of us will continue to work closely with colleagues within the county and district councils to progress with post day-1 projects, but also as local authority partners serving the needs of our communities.
Please read through this week's CFRS Update for information on new developments and systems for us as a Service:

New vision statement Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service
Our new vision statement, which many of you helped develop, reflects the nature of our Service, and aims to better reflect our commitment to protecting our communities and keeping them safe.
A key objective through developing our new vision statement was to ensure staff had a say in what it should be and how it should reflect what we do and want to achieve.
We ran workshops and conducted a staff survey to gather views and reviewed vision statements from other organisations to get ideas of what staff thought worked (or not). The feedback was then used to develop some options and after much discussion, the vision statement above was agreed.
This statement clearly sets out the ambition of the Service we are all working incredibly hard to deliver. Thank you to everyone who contributed and shared their thoughts and great suggestions.
Launch of the new Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service website
We are pleased to announce the launch of our new website for the Service. The new website is much more user-friendly, accessible and provides an improved experience for our communities, partners and those looking to come and work for our Service.
Take a look at the website and feedback any suggestions and recommendations to: hayleigh.johnston@cumbriafire.gov.uk.

New brand guidelines and templates
We have been working to develop a new brand identity for Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service which we are really pleased to share with you. The vision statement is a big part of our brand and describes in words who we are.
The new brand guidelines and templates help bring the brand to life through design.
Please begin to use the new templates to ensure consistency in our materials. If you require any other templates or have any queries, please email: hayleigh.johnston@cumbriafire.gov.uk.

Fire Service meeting rooms
From 3 April 2023, there will be a new procedure for booking meeting rooms within Fire Stations.
The meeting room booking system homepage will show the six different stations where meeting rooms are available to book. It also contains information about each room including room capacity, room location and the facilities available.
The new calendar booking system provides real-time availability information, so users can see when meeting rooms are available. It is easily accessible via SharePoint and we hope that this new system allow users to book meeting rooms with ease.

Changes to ID Hammer from 3 April 2023
Please can stations use ID Hammer to record the mileage for all appliances using the Driver First User Check option and record using the following frequencies:
|
Vehicle
|
Frequency
|
|
Fire Appliances Wholetime
|
When a new driver is allocated
|
|
Fire Appliances On-call
|
Weekly
|
|
Auxiliary vehicles and Wildfire vehicles
|
Last weekend of each month
|
|

|
No need to use ID Hammer to record mileage

Stations that are currently recording weekly fire appliance checks on ID Hammer will no longer need to do this if they are recording on each changeover of shift.
We appreciate your assistance with this as the collection of mileage data allows us to make informed decisions on fleet replacement / rotation.
