Issue 6 2024/2025: February and March 2025
2025 is the Year of Croeso - all about a Welsh welcome to everyone who visits Wales, celebrated with moments of "hwyl" (joy in Welsh). With January over, we're already loving the longer daylights hours and signs of Spring. But our moment of hwyl so far is watching the winter sunsets light up the coastline with such intense colours - amazing to watch them from the path. Share your moments of hwyl on the path - tag us on social media with the hastags #FeeltheHwyl #Hwyl
On 1st March, we celebrate Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant (St David's Day). Our patron saint of Wales, Dewi Sant said ‘Gwnewch y pethau bychain mewn bywyd’ - ‘Do the little things in life’ - is still a well-known maxim in Wales. Let's live by his words and step onto the path for a stroll - no matter how big or small it is this year.

On your winter walks, look out for lots of wading birds like oystercatchers, dunlin (pictured) and curlew, who flock to Wales to escape the inhospitable winters of the north. Here in Wales, they feed in their thousands on the nutrient rich mudflats, dining on juicy snails and some shellfish.
You can watch this from the path, at a safe distance to avoid disturbing the feeding birds. The best places to enjoy this wintry spectacle along the north Wales coastline is the Dee Estuary and Traeth Lavan (the vast sandy expanse near Bangor).
TOP TIP: Bring a pair of binoculars to watch the birds from safe distance.
