people with Christmas headgear on a walk by the coast
Firstly, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!Â
2023 has been a busy and enjoyable year with lots of you enjoying the path, in all weathers with tired feet and weary legs, but always with a smile on your face!
Lots of people are ticking off sections of the path they’ve walked and commemorating their time on the path with our popular finisher certificates and badges
We’ve joined CoastSnap, a global citizen science project to monitor the effects of climate change on the coastline. Working with the Wales Coastal Monitoring Centre (WCMC), lots of CoastSnap phone cradles have been installed along the path. If you see a cradle, be sure to take a photo and share it with us. Find CoastSnap locations on the path.
We’ve welcomed the Muslim Hikers, who champion inclusivity in the outdoors on two guided walks this summer and enjoyed folk music duo Filkin’s Drift’s 870 mile walking tour of the path - a radical approach to sustainable touring.
We’ve learnt a lot by working with Experience Community, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company that helps disabled people access the outdoors to improve our information about wheelchair friendly sections. Guest blogger, Amanda Harris wrote about her experience of exploring the North Wales coast with her mobility aids Read Amanda’s blog.
Most people use the path to enjoy the scenery and views and for health and exercise so we collaborated with Heads above the Waves, a non-profit organisation raising awareness of depression and self-harm in young people to produce our Mindfulness Resource Pack - packed with the most relaxing walking routes, mindfulness tips and activities to try out on the path.
