Connecting the path with art and poetry

We’ve recently commissioned a new body of arts and poetry to commemorate our 10th anniversary.

The project is being led by renowed painter Dan Llywelyn Hall and National Poet of Wales Ifor Ap Glyn to bring together 10 artists and 10 poets to create an explosion of creativity inspired by the path.

The public wil be able to enjoy the works at specially selected community hubs and art centres along the coast during our special year.

Unveiling the project at this year’s Hay Festival, Dan announced the poets and artists who will creating these special pieces of work as well as plans for a finale exhibition planned for St David’s Day, the national day of celebrating our patron saint of Wales.

A bilingual book featuring all the works will also be published as a legacy to this special project.

Refill your water bottle on the go

To celebrate World Refill Day on 16th June, sand artist Rachel Shiamh created an epic work of art in the sand at National Trust Cymru’s Penryn Beach in Ceredigion – highlighting the importance of leaving no trace when we visit the Wales Coast Path. Watch a timelapse of her work

Event: Maximising Business Opportunities on the Wales Coast Path

On 22 June 2022, we invited the tourism and hospitality trade along for a celebration of the path in Gwynedd county - one of the largest sections of the entire path in the coastal venue of Nant Gwrtheyrn, the National Centre for Welsh Language and Heritage.

We presented an overview of the anniversary campaign and an update on what’s been happening such as:

New walking itineraries in partnership with Cadw - combining a walk on the path with a visit to a castle – 3 of which are in Gwynedd.

We rounded off our event with a 3 mile guided walk led by Rhys Roberts from Pistyll back to Nant Gwrtheyrn – the views and weather didn’t disapoint!
