There are so many items in your day to day waste that can be recycled and made
into something new. Just by putting items such as cereal boxes, cans, paper and
plastic bottles loose into your recycling bin we can make sure that less waste
goes to landfill and the recyclable materials are made into something new. Find out more.

In
2014 the equivalent green energy required to brew 2.5 million cups of tea was
produced by Nottinghamshire residents recycling their used cooking oil at
Recycling Centres.
Throughout British culinary history, pancakes were made to use up
leftovers and prohibited items such as eggs, fats and cream on Shrovetide prior
to a period of Lenten fasting. This year Shrove Tuesday, otherwise known as
Pancake Day, takes place on Tuesday 17 February.
Wasting food costs the average family £470 a year and this increases to £700 a
year for a family with children. Pancake Day is a fantastic way to get into the
habit of loving your leftovers as it is all about using up the things that get
left in your fridge and wrapping them in a delicious pancake.
A
fruity pancake alternative to the original recipe is available within the
‘Love Your Leftovers’ cookbook. Download a copy now.

This Valentine’s Day you can also ‘love recycling’, by recycling any paper
and cards*. However, it's not only cards that can be
recycled this Valentine's Day, but your chocolate boxes, plastic
bottles and the cardboard sleeve from food containers too. So recycle and love
Nottinghamshire this Valentine's Day.
*Please do not put foil wrapping paper or Valentine’s cards with
excessive glitter in your recycling bin.
