Driving, walking or cycling during floods

Flooded roads present a danger to all road users:

  • don't drive on roads which are closed due to flooding
  • pedestrians and cyclists should not enter flood water in case of hidden hazards such as lifted manhole covers.

For more tips for driving when there is a risk of flooding or standing water take a look at our tips for motorists page

Sandbags

Local residents at risk of flooding should source their own sandbags to protect their home as the Council may only be able to assist the most vulnerable.

Find out more about sandbags on our website.
