 Coronavirus symptoms
If you have symptoms you no longer need to test but the advice is to try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until you are feeling better.
Symptoms of coronavirus can include:
- a high temperature or shivering (chills)
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
- shortness of breath
- feeling tired or exhausted
- an aching body
- a headache
- a sore throat
- a blocked or runny nose
- loss of appetite
- diarrhoea
- feeling sick or being sick.
Remember to follow the national guidance to keep yourself and others safe.
Maddy is 17 years old and from Nottinghamshire. She has severe Learning Difficulties, Autism and ADHD and has completed her course of the Covid-19 vaccine, having had a first, second and booster dose.
When speaking to Maddy about why she got vaccinated, Maddy shared that she wanted to protect her family and friends. Having seen her friends ill with Covid-19, she didn't want them to go through that experience again and understood the vaccine could help protect her and her loved ones.
It's important for children and young people to be vaccinated – it helps to reduce transmission, protects themselves, their families, and vulnerable classmates.

The Coronavirus Community Support Hub received just under 4,000 requests from vulnerable residents in Nottinghamshire during the pandemic. These requests ranged from volunteers helping to deliver groceries, taking people to medical appointments, helping to walk people's dogs and more.
This was met through the combined efforts of partners across the county, including the county council, district councils, community groups, individual volunteers and local businesses, Fire Service, British Red Cross, NHS link workers, Connect workers and the Community and Voluntary Service and more.

Guidance is available to help employers reduce the spread of respiratory infections such as covid-19 and flu in the workplace.
The information is especially important if there are people whose immune systems mean they are at a high risk of serious illness.

Because of coronavirus, it can be hard to know what to do if you're unwell. It's important to get medical help if you think you need it.
- For help from a GP – use your GP surgery's website, use an online service or app, or call the surgery
- For urgent medical help – use the NHS 111 online service, or call 111 if you're unable to get help online
- For life-threatening emergencies – call 999 for an ambulance
- If you're advised to go to hospital, it's important to go.
