Vaccinations for 12 – 15 year olds in Nottinghamshire

Vaccinations are underway in our schools for healthy children aged 12-15. Schools will be in touch with parents directly to let them know when the vaccinations will happen at their school, and many clinics have already gone ahead.

A guide that explains the vaccination programme for eligible children and young people is available online and further resources can be downloaded from the Government website. Vaccination healthcare staff will require parental, guardian or carer consent in line with existing school vaccination programmes.

If a 12-15 year old has missed their vaccination clinic at school, parents can book an appointment at a special clinic. The clinics are being held outside of school hours at either the Mansfield Vaccination Centre, King’s Mill Hospital Vaccination Hub or the Forest Recreation Ground Vaccination Centre. If a child has already been invited through their school, they do not need to book at these clinics unless parents wish to get their child vaccinated outside of school.

Protect yourself and loved ones from dangerous viruses this winter

Boost your immunity this winter

Some people may be eligible for a free flu jab and Covid-19 booster this winter and it's safe to have them at the same time. As the months get colder, it’s important to maximise protection and take up the flu jab and your Covid-19 booster to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Find out more about the flu vaccine

If you're eligible for your Covid-19 booster jab and have not yet received an invitation, you can book an appointment online at a community pharmacy or a vaccination centre in Nottinghamshire (190 days after your second dose).

Alternatively, you can walk into certain vaccination sites (182 days after your second dose) without booking an appointment.

Stay Covid-19 safe this Bonfire Night

Bonfire night

Meeting outdoors is safer, but if you’re inside keep windows open to let plenty of fresh air in. The air will help blow away any coronavirus particles and keep everyone safe.

Opening your windows for just 10 minutes, or a small amount of time continuously where you can, makes a significant difference.

Other ways to keep safe

If you are buying fireworks make sure to only buy fireworks from licensed retailers. Read more firework safety advice online.

Guidance for people previously considered clinically extremely vulnerable from Covid-19

The shielding programme has now ended in England. This means that people who were previously considered clinically extremely vulnerable will not be advised to shield in the future or follow specific national guidance.

If this applies to you, you will receive a letter informing you of these changes in more detail and providing further information on available support.

Protect yourself from Covid-19 and other illnesses

Wash hands - health behaviours

Covid-19 is still circulating, so washing your hands, with soap and water, throughout the day or using hand sanitiser regularly will help control the spread of the virus and help protect you from other illnesses.

It is important to wash your hands:

  • after coughing, sneezing and blowing your nose
  • before you eat or handle food
  • after coming into contact with surfaces touched by many others, such as handles, handrails and light switches
  • after coming into contact with shared areas such as kitchens and bathrooms
  • when you return home

Keep up with regular testing

Regular testing helps stop the spread

If you have coronavirus or flu-like symptoms make sure you self-isolate and take a PCR test.

Twice weekly lateral flow testing helps to stop the spread of coronavirus and keep you and your loved ones safe.

Let's keep protecting each other this autumn and winter.
