 Let's keep going Nottinghamshire
Rates across Nottinghamshire are slowly decreasing which is a positive sign that we are all heading in the right direction. However, rates in the county are currently at 93 per 100,000 which is still much higher than the England average which stands at 61 per 100,000.
This week we reached the first step of the Government's roadmap out of lockdown and we're seeing schools across the county reopen. From 8 March we also saw a small change to exercise rules which allows us to meet up with one other person for recreational activities outdoors such as a coffee or picnic which you may consider for Mother's Day. Remember you can only meet up with someone who lives locally and must follow social distancing measures to prevent Covid-19 transmission.
If you are over 55, you can now make an appointment for your Covid-19 vaccine.

The Government has announced that twice-weekly testing, using rapid Lateral Flow Tests (LFT), is available for free to adults in all households with primary, secondary school and college age children and young people, including childcare and support bubbles.
These Nottinghamshire families are being encouraged to access the free home tests and take part in regular testing to help identify more asymptomatic Covid-19 cases to quickly break chains of transmission now that more pupils and students are returning to face-to-face teaching.

We'd like to remind parents to keep your distance at the school gates at the beginning and end of the day, keeping at least two metres away from anyone not in your household. It all helps to stop the spread of the virus, and keep our families and communities safe.

Celebrating may be different this year but at a time when we're valuing our loved ones more than ever, we must stay safe and prevent Covid-19 transmission.
You can meet with one other person in public places outdoors for recreation activities. If you and your mum live locally, why not arrange a picnic or a coffee on a park bench.
If you don't live close by to your mum, you could organise a virtual lunch or coffee and cake to mark the occasion. There are several free platforms you can do this through such as Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp or Facetime.
It's not too late to send some flowers or chocolates through the post as a surprise!

You may be hearing now that it's been one year since Covid-19 became more noticeable in our communities and we've recently marked the anniversary of the first coronavirus case in Nottinghamshire. Looking ahead, we can be hopeful with the fantastic roll out of the vaccination programme across the nation but we still all have an essential part to play in stopping the spread.
