 Pupils begin to return to schools on 8 March
Schools in Nottinghamshire will reopen to pupils from Monday 8 March. Some schools are operating a staggered return, with some pupils going back on later dates. Whether your child is starting on Monday, a little bit later, or they have been at school during lockdown, they might be worried or need a bit of reassurance after being out of school for a while.

As more pupils and students return to the classroom the Government has asked that all adults who live in households with primary school, secondary school and college age children, including childcare and support bubbles, test themselves twice a week.

Or you can call the National Booking Service on 119 to book an appointment at the Mansfield Vaccination Centre or your nearest pharmacy-led site.

Adults with learning disabilities are being urged to book their Covid-19 vaccination as part of JCVI cohort 6. GPs will be contacting everyone who is known to have a learning disability to encourage them to take up the vaccine.

Government guidance has been released on visiting relatives in care homes from 8 March.
Care home managers will decide how their care home can best enable visiting in line with this guidance and carry out a risk assessment to manage visits safely. This will take into account:
- where visiting will happen to avoid mingling with other visitors, staff or residents
- the precautions that will be taken to prevent infection (including lateral flow testing, PPE use and hand washing)

Our £1m Community Fund is still going strong – 312 projects from across Notts have been awarded more than £866,000 so far
The funding supports local charities and community groups that are delivering essential services to vulnerable residents impacted by Covid-19 such as Calverton Core, a local group helping the community with a range of support, from hosting virtual exercise classes to providing batteries for hearing aids.
Becky Lord from the group is encouraging others to apply with the message that Community Funds worth £5,000, have been key to continuing their much-needed work.

Lindhurst Engineering Ltd has been shortlisted for a Community Award for the UK Nuclear Skills Awards 2021 in response to Covid-19 for their #ppe4nhs campaign.
Managing Director, Martin Rigley MBE, launched the #ppe4nhs campaign in March last year, seeking donations of unused PPE from businesses in the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, to support NHS staff and key workers dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Within just eight weeks, #ppe4nhs secured a staggering 100,000 items of PPE. Nottinghamshire County Council linked up with the initiative and worked to collect and re-distribute the donated PPE to various locations and services across the County.

National lockdown rules mean you should not be travelling unless for work or other essential reasons. If you have to car share, you can follow simple steps to reduce the risk of catching Covid-19 such as:
- wash hands or use sanitiser before and after the journey
- wear face coverings
- share with the same small group only
- keep windows open
- clean car surfaces after every journey (including seatbelts and internal/external handles)
