Keeping Nottinghamshire safe during the national lockdown

The Government is urging everyone to stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives. The decision for a national lockdown was made due to the significant number of coronavirus cases rising rapidly across the country. 

Jonathan Gribbin, Director of Public Health for Nottinghamshire said: “The lockdown is a necessary measure to address the threat caused by COVID-19 and the new variant which is driving an increase in rates in many parts of the country. We are also seeing sharp increases across Nottinghamshire and these will result in severe pressures in our local health and social care system. 

“The new measures last for at least six weeks so my challenge to the people of Nottinghamshire is to see this as an opportunity to do all you can to protect yourself, your family and local people you may not even know by staying at home as far as possible and sticking to the Hands, Face and Space rules. It really is as simple as that. Doing so will help bring down the rates just as we did when we worked together in the first lockdown in the spring of 2020.”

Domestic abuse is any type of controlling, bullying, threatening or violent behaviour between people in a relationship, usually by a partner, ex-partner or family member. We know that this is a difficult and worrying time for people living with domestic abuse. Updated guidance for clinically extremely vulnerable people

The Government’s guidance on shielding and protecting people who are clinically extremely vulnerable (CEV) from COVID-19 has been updated in line with the new lockdown restrictions. The updated information sets out the additional things people at the highest risk from COVID-19 are advised to do to keep themselves safe. The Government is also sending out a letter to all clinically extremely vulnerable people to advise them of the latest guidance.
