Finding a Gas Safe registered engineer

Gas engineer at boiler

As cold weather approaches the last thing you want is for your heating, radiators and boiler to breakdown. An annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer is essential for keeping your boiler running smoothly and safely. All gas engineers are required to register with the Gas Safe Register. To find a Gas Safe business you can check the  Gas Safe Register

All engineers are issued with a Gas Safe ID card, which has their photograph, the business they work for, the licence number and the Gas Safe Hologram. There is some helpful advice on  checking a Gas Safe ID Card. You should only allow an engineer into your home, if you have made an appointment and are expecting them and you have checked their identification.

Did you know that around thirteen fires a day across the UK are caused by faulty and recalled electrical goods? In the year ending June 2019, 215 people sadly lost their lives due to a fire at home.

When you purchase electrical equipment, you are entitled to expect not only that it works, but that it is safe to use. Registering your product makes it possible for the manufacturer to get in touch with you if the product turns out to be faulty or dangerous.

Trading Standards response to Covid 19

Hand sanitiser

Our Trading Standards Officers have been working with district and borough councils and the Police to help support businesses to comply with new Health Protection Regulations.

Checks have also been made on face coverings/PPE and hand sanitiser products being sold on high streets throughout the County.  So far this has resulted in over 1,500 masks being seized and a national chain subsequently recalling mislabelled masks. In addition 355 hand sanitisers were seized.

Trading Standards have also been working with partner agencies to try and publicise prevention messages in relation to scams, more information in relation to Covid-19 scams can be found in this e-leaflet. You can help in the fight against scams by becoming a Friend Against Scams and completing a short training package online. You can then share the knowledge you have gained with those around you.
