'Very High' measures set to help keep each other safe and slow the spread of Covid-19

The whole of Nottinghamshire will move from Local COVID Alert Level High to VERY HIGH from 00.01 on 30 October. Government and local partners will closely monitor the impact of these new restrictions which will be in place for 28 days.

By following these new measures we hope to achieve a sustained reduction in infection rates, especially to help protect our vulnerable residents, the NHS, and social care services.

Understanding the new restrictions

We've collated our most popular enquiries on the new measures to help you understand what you can and cannot do when we move into tier 3 of the Local COVID Level Alert.

INDOORS – You cannot meet people outside your household or support bubble indoors. This means in homes AND venues such as pubs, restaurants and places of worship etc.

OUTDOORS – You must also not meet with people outside of your household or support bubble in a private garden, or in most outdoor public venues. However, you CAN see friends and family who are not part of your household or support bubble in public gardens, parks, beaches, forests, outdoor sports courts and facilities, and playgrounds, provided that you do not meet in groups of more than six.

HOSPITALITY – Venues including cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars and social clubs will now only be able to remain open to serve substantial meals or they must move to operate a delivery and takeaway service only. For those venues which can remain open, the 10pm curfew is still in place.

TRAVEL – Under the new restrictions, you should avoid travelling in or out of Nottinghamshire unless it is for work, education purposes, youth activities or for caring responsibilities. If you don’t live in Nottinghamshire, you will be able to travel through the county as part of a longer journey.

Remember to follow Hands. Face. Space guidance this Halloween!

Hands.

While you're having fun this Halloween, remember to follow best hygiene practices such as washing your hands for AT LEAST 20 seconds and using hand sanitiser.

Washing your hands is the BEST way to slow the spread of the virus as it removes dirt, viruses, and bacteria to stop them from spreading to other people and objects.

Face.

Did you know there are some places where you must wear a face covering by law?  Unless you are exempt from wearing one.

When used correctly, wearing a face covering may reduce the spread of coronavirus droplets in certain circumstances, helping to protect others.

Face

Space.

An infected person can pass on the virus even if they do not have any symptoms, through talking, coughing, or sneezing so we'd like to remind you to keep socially distant from other households.

Where you cannot stay 2 metres apart you should stay more than 1 metre apart with additional precautions such as face coverings.

NHS Test and Trace

NHSTestandTrace

It is critical that if you have symptoms of COVID-19 – high temperature, continuous cough or loss of taste or smell – to self-isolate immediately and book a test by calling 119 or, by going online to gov.uk. Please do not go to A&E or call your GP to get a test.

Have you downloaded the NHS Test and Trace App? If you're going to a restaurant or indoor venue, remember to use your app and check in to the venue.
