On the school run?

Keeping safe at the school gates

We're all excited to see familiar faces at school and catch up on the months we've missed, but please keep your distance from anyone not in your household before and at the end of school, and remind your children to do the same.

By working together we can all help stop the spread of the virus.

Back to school: more advice and guidance

What to do if your child gets COVID-19 symptoms

If your child gets COVID-19 symptoms, keep them home from school and get a test. Get the results to your school as soon as you can.

Everyone in your household should stay at home while anyone with symptoms is tested, and afterwards, in line with NHS self-isolation guidance, if the test result is positive.

Your school will let you know if there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 and your child needs to be isolated.

If you have children at different schools or in different bubbles, and one of your children is in a group which has been sent home to isolate, there is no need for any other household members to stay at home, unless the child develops symptoms.

Face coverings on the school bus

Please remind your children that if they are 11 or older, they need to wear a face covering while on public transport and dedicated school transport, and not to take it off while on board (unless exempt).

Remember, It is the law to wear a face covering, unless you are exempt.

It helps stop the spread of the virus, and protects your family, your friends, and your community.

Keeping your distance at the match

Going to the match to support your children? Please remember to stay at least 2 metres away from anyone you don’t live with, like other parents watching the game.

You could unknowingly spread COVID-19 to others, even if you don’t have symptoms.

Please help us to play it safe.

Cold, cough, or COVID-19?

Cough, cold, or COVID-19?

Children are prone to infections such as colds and coughs when they return to school and nursery. All the infections that cause these are still around and it’s not always easy to know what may be COVID, when to seek advice and when to get a test. You can check your child’s symptoms against those for COVID-19 here.

Always keep your children away from nursery or school if they have diarrhoea and vomiting. Check the NHS website for guidance on when you need to seek advice. Rashes are also common and another reason to keep your child away from nursery and school. The NHS site provides useful information on rashes in children, what to do and when to seek advice.

We know you are experts on your children and you should always seek advice if you’re worried.
