Re-opening libraries and archives safely
Last month we told you that some Notts libraries and archives were set to re-open from 6 July in line with the Government's national recovery plan.
Since then, the staff at Inspire have been working hard to make the necessary preparations to welcome you back.
With the priority on staff and customer safety, libraries and archives will operate with a reduced service, limited capacity in buildings, additional cleaning measures and guidelines in place for social distancing.
Once libraries and archives reopen you will be able to:
- Browse and borrow books and other items.
- Return books in the designated area. Enjoy no overdue charges until 17 August, so there is no need to renew at this time.
- Access computers and use printers, scanners and photocopiers with the correct change, where contactless payment is not available.
- Visit Archives by appointment to view and photograph pre-ordered original archives.
In the meantime, Inspire Online will continue to enable you to enjoy culture, learning and libraries from home.

Since launching the Coronavirus Community Support Hub less than three months ago, we’ve had a tremendous response from residents eager to help those who are vulnerable, self-isolating, or just in need of help where they can’t get it for themselves.
Over 950 of you have come forward and thanks to your generosity we’ve been able to successfully meet over 1,000 requests for assistance.

Temperatures have been hot hot hot across the county this week! During hot weather it's important to keep safe and stay #WeatherAware
Look out for those who may struggle to keep cool and hydrated. Older people, those with underlying conditions and those who live alone are more at risk off ill health due to hot weather.
Don't forget to follow guidance on COVID-19 at all times and when using public cool spaces including shaded outdoor spaces, do so considerately.

If you haven't heard already, on Tuesday the Prime Minister announced the easing of some lockdown measures from next week (4 July). This includes the re-opening of many businesses such as pubs, restaurants, cinemas and museums - providing they meet COVID secure guidelines - as well as changes to social distancing.
