Community and volunteer hub now live

We are working with all 7 District & Borough Councils and Nottingham City Council to create a community support and volunteering hub that all residents can access during this challenging time.

There are a number of local volunteer groups offering help if you are staying at home and self-isolating, the hub will allow you can find support available in your local area.

What's more if you are responsible for a community group, faith group, charity, parish or town council and are not listed yet you can add your details.

Our hub is a work in progress and will be updated regularly so keep checking back for updates and developments.

Please share this update far and wide across our County so everyone is aware of the support available, we're all in this together Notts.

Country parks closure

Country Parks Closure

We are continuing to monitor developments with COVID-19 to ensure that the services we offer are in line with up-to-date Government guidance.

In light of this, it is with regret that we will be closing all country park sites across Nottinghamshire, as well as their facilities and car parks from this evening (23 March).

This includes Sherwood Forest, Rufford Abbey and Holme Pierrepont, Cotgrave and Bestwood Country Parks.

This decision has not been taken lightly and is one of many measures we have put in place to ensure effective social distancing in our communities across Nottinghamshire.

We recognise that access to our country parks may still be possible on foot, however we ask that any visitors keep themselves a minimum of two meters apart from each other to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Recycle centre update

Recycling centre update

All 12 of our recycling centres across Nottinghamshire are open as usual, but please protect yourself, other residents and the site staff by adhering to the Government advice on social distancing - stay at least 2m apart from others if visiting.

Where possible, everyone should be staying at home.

We are only allowing 5 cars on site at any one time to protect everyone, we ask all our residents to be patient if there are delays or queues at any of our recycling centres. We've got to look after each other during this challenging time. #StaySafeSaveLives

Waste disposal advice for households that are self isolating

Households that are self isolating should follow the Government's 'Stay at home' advice which states:

  • Store personal waste such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths securely within disposable rubbish bags.
  • Place these bags into another bag, tie securely and keep separate from other waste.
  • These bags should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external general waste bin.
  • Please do not take this waste to your local Recycling Centre.

Please dispose of your other household waste as normal.

It is more important than ever to ensure that recycling is clean and dry, and that rubbish bags are all securely tied to help prevent spills and protect our collection teams and the public.
