Safe and well checks for oxygen users

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) relaunched its Safe and Well Visits last August (previously called Home Safety Checks).

As well as looking at fire safety, NFRS is now working in collaboration with partner agencies to offer advice on falls, keeping warm during winter, stopping smoking and alcohol intake, depending on a person’s health and lifestyle choices.

Care leavers

Nottinghamshire safeguarding Adults Board’s Learning and Development Sub-Group recently had a guest presentation from Kathryn Higgins, Designated Nurse for children in care (Nottingham City CCG and Nottinghamshire County CCGs - excluding Bassetlaw).

As a result, NSAB will be updating relevant learning opportunities to reflect awareness of care leavers in relation to safeguarding adults.

Referrer training dates

We now have confirmed dates for NSAB’s popular referrer training course. Trainers’ Forum

NSAB facilitates a Trainers’ Forum three times a year, which is open to people responsible for delivering safeguarding adults training within their organisation.

Whilst not a training course, this open forum aims to provide attendees with relevant safeguarding adults information to be able to facilitate learning amongst the staff in their own organisation.

The next event will be held on 30 May 2019

Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Adults Board – update from April meeting

  • Updates on the Learning and Development, the Quality Assurance and the Safeguarding Adults Review Sub-Groups were provided by their respective Chairs.
  • Emma Darby, the Board Manager, proposed that NSAB Members should present to the Board (one per meeting) on the “Voice of the Service User”, what it means for their organisations, and what is being done within their organisations. This was agreed, and the County Council (I’m assuming it’s NCC and not one of the districts or boroughs) will provide the first of these presentations at the Board Meeting in July 2019.
