Earlier this week preparations commenced onsite at the 37 acre Sleaford Moor Enterprise Park, ready for phase one with associated works expected to begin later this month.
The scheme is being brought forward by North Kesteven District Council and brings the prospect of new jobs and economic potential unlocked for Sleaford, and the wider District.
Contractor Smith Construction are based in Heckington and won the main build and construction contract to deliver phase one of the enterprise park, which consists of nine business units ranging from 1,292 to 2,034 sq ft in one plot and six grow-on units ranging from 3,003 to 5,102 sq ft in another plot. Smith Construction will also work on the strategic infrastructure and construction works on the site including the civils and spine road construction.
Harlaxton Engineering based in Grantham meanwhile are delivering the site-wide utilities connections.
North Kesteven District Council runs its own awards programme – the NK Community Champion Awards – that celebrates voluntary community-minded contributions that make a real difference in the lives of individuals, groups and entire communities.
There’s a specific Community Business category which champions businesses that give freely of their time, effort, materials and resources in support of community endeavour or which operate in a charitable or community-focused way and achieve social value that goes beyond the bottom-line.
If you run or know of a business that you think should be nominated for a ‘thank you’, please put in a nomination at www.nkawards.org before Friday 9 September.
There is an escalating issue regarding the theft of waste cooking oil from the hospitality and catering industry across the UK.
Commercial operators cannot pour their waste oils down the sink. Instead, they must collect their waste cooking oil and pass it to a registered waste carrier, who will pay approx. 25p/litre for it. It is this storage and collection that is being targeted by criminals. More information can be found on this Waste Cooking Oil Bulletin from the Environment Agency.
The Environment Agency is interested in details of:
- Spates or hotspots where cooking oil theft occurs
- Vehicles which are suspected of being involved in waste cooking oil theft
- Drivers or passengers using the vehicle and the paperwork they use to prove that they are legitimate (e.g. waste carriers licence or waste transfer receipts)
If you have any intelligence, please email the National Intelligence Team, with the reference ‘WASTE COOKING OIL’:
