Marking Armed Forces Day

While the usual veterans’ celebration and presentation of Veterans Badges has unfortunately had to be cancelled because of the ongoing coronavirus situation, the traditional Armed Forces Day flag raising ceremony continued in a reduced format.

Can you help?

Last week a large fly tip was reported on the roadside A17 at Leadenham.

The waste included a three foot fibreglass dragon, among a mixture of other items and commercial waste including asbestos roofing.

If you have any information about this fly tipping or the dragon, please contact us.

Coronavirus latest for you

Coronavirus

There’s a lot to digest from the Prime Minister’s Commons address this afternoon.

From July 4…

2m social distancing requirement is reduced to 1m+, with extra ‘mitigating measures’ required.

Members of two households can meet inside or out in groups of any size, and stay over.

Pubs, restaurants, hairdressers, museums, galleries, theatres and cinemas can reopen, with limitations and measures in place.

Hotels and campsites can operate, again with limitations and measures in place.

Playgrounds and certain play spaces can re-open, but not pools, indoor gyms, nightclubs, beauty salons and other specified businesses.

Weddings are back on and places of worship open for up to 30 attendees, subject to social distancing.

Watch this space for more detailed guidance as it emerges, or check https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Car parking update

Car parking

Drivers are asked to continue social distancing and showing consideration for others as Sleaford's car parks become busier with shops and businesses re-opening.

From Wednesday, July 1, charging resumes across all of the town’s council-run car parks after a period of around three months during which charging was suspended. You can read more HERE along with a full FAQ.

Advice for those shielding

You’ll have heard about changes for those who are clinically extremely vulnerable and advised to shield themselves.

For now the guidance remains the same:

  • Stay at home and only go outside to exercise or to spend time outdoors with a member of your household, or with one other person from another household if you live alone.

However, subject to clinical evidence, the guidance will change on July and again on August 1.

From July :

  • you can meet in groups of up to six people from outside your household – outdoors with social distancing.
  • If you live alone (or are a lone adult with dependent children under 18), you will be able to form a ‘support bubble’ with another household.

From August 1:

  • you will no longer need to shield, and the advice will be that you can visit shops and places of worship, but you should continue maintaining rigorous social distancing and hygiene measures.
  • Levels of support are changing and from August 1 the Government’s food boxes will stop. Detail of this and wider support available will be advised from the Lincolnshire Local Resilience Forum.
