NK welcomes back the Red Arrows

Red Arrows

The Red Arrows are to stay in Lincolnshire - their home county - and return to North Kesteven.

The aerobatic team will move to planned new headquarters at RAF Waddington, a short distance from their current home, enabling them to continue to practice their displays in the skies over Lincolnshire.

Councillor Richard Wright, Leader of North Kesteven District Council, has welcomed the news.“I’m very pleased that the Red Arrows will be remaining in Lincolnshire," he said.

“They are a much loved and appreciated part of the long aviation history of this county and it is to the benefit of the wider county that they will continue to be a part of it.“I am also very happy to welcome them back to North Kesteven, as they were previously based at RAF Cranwell for a period, around 20 years ago."

Loneliness - a guide from the experiences of Mrs Smith.

Mrs Smith

The team behind Mrs Smith's Cottage have put together some advice based on the experience of Mrs Smith - who too faced loneliness in her later years.

Even when she received multiple visitors most days, Mrs Smith often felt lonely. These feelings would occur in the evenings when her last visitors had left and she spent another evening by the fire with her TV for company, or worse when she had no visitors at all that day.

Here are some ways you can help those dealing with loneliness, or help yourself if you are experiencing similar feelings:

  • Join the Age UK Befriending Service. Spend some time outdoors. Mrs Smith could often be found in her garden always ready for a chat over the hedge.
  • Write to friends and neighbours. Mrs Smith would write letters to friends she couldn’t visit and reading a letter or long email from a friend helps you to feel connected. A postcard would be a great way to introduce yourself to your neighbours, or you can find penpal/letter writing groups online.
  • Phone people. Mrs Smith certainly would have (not that she had a phone at home, but she would drop in on friends whenever she fancied). Pick a time, have coffee and cake together.

Coronavirus Testing

testing

Testing is now available and encouraged for anyone with symptoms of COVID-19.

This will more readily identify people who should be self-isolating (not able to leave home or to work) and keeping away from work; and those who could potentially be attending at work – if it is safe to do so and they cannot work from home.

Guidance is regularly updated – latest at www.gov.uk/guidance

Testing is now available for anyone aged over five years old if they are symptomatic - that is they have a fever, new persistent cough and change or loss of taste and/or smell.

The three main testing options are at static drive-through locations, mobile units and at home. Booking is essential - CLICK HERE
