Come and try... bowls
North Herts Bowls Club are inviting potential new members to their "Come and Try Bowls" days. Based on the picturesque Norton Common, Letchworth with their original wooden clubhouse. One of the oldest outdoor bowls clubs, North Herts now boasts 60 - 70 members, about half and half ladies and men. Mostly retirees, we play friendly matches against other local clubs and hold regular social events throughout the year. Come down, have a go and a nice cup of tea and a natter. We are a friendly lot and bowls is a wonderful opportunity for those who used to participate in more active sports when they were younger, to still take part in a competitive environment.
North Herts Bowls Club Lower Green, Norton Common, Letchworth Every Monday 2pm - 4pm May to September All equipment and tuition provided, plus tea and biscuits! Just turn up or contact John 01462 684914 / casita.office@hotmail.co.uk www.n-h-b-c.org.uk

Step into spring with a Hertfordshire Health Walk
Are you looking to be more physically active outdoors this spring but don’t know where to start?
If so, Health Walks can help. We offer 17 free walks in the North Herts area – each supported by two friendly volunteers who keep everyone together. Our shortest walks are 20 to 30 minutes and keep to a gentle pace. These are ideal for people who are gradually trying to build up their fitness after injury or illness.
New walks are starting from St George’s Church in Letchworth (Wednesday 2 April) and North Herts Museum in Hitchin (Wednesday 7 May) for eight weeks. We are celebrating National Walking Month with a choice of three walks from Stevenage Football Club (Wednesday 7th May, 5:30pm)
All walks are FREE, no booking is required. Register as a new walker on www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/healthwalks or contact a member of the Health Walks Team on 01992 555888 or healthwalks.cms@hertfordshire.gov.uk to find out more.

Calling all physical activity providers...
The ‘It’s Never Too Late to be Active’ campaign is back in 2025 and will launch on Monday 12 May running until Sunday 26 October.
The campaign is led by Hertfordshire County Council and aims to inspire and support Hertfordshire inactive adults to become more active by connecting them to local physical activity opportunities within their local community.
Members of the public can sign up and receive activity vouchers which could then be used to attend one of your classes or sessions. In the previous campaign, over 1,700 activity passes were downloaded! There are many benefits to registering your activities as part of the campaign, including :
-
Free marketing that could attract and sustain new participants to your sessions
-
Improving lives of local residents and strengthening your ties within local communities
- Be entered into a prize draw to win one of three £500 cash prizes!
To find out how it all works and to register your activities, please visit https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/nevertoolateproviders
