Eating well
If you find reading food labels difficult and confusing, you definitely aren't alone.
There is so much important information on food labels that it can be hard to know where to start. Thankfully the British Heart Foundation have put together a handy guide to explain it all. From what to look out for, to how to decode all those numbers, this guide has it all. They also have a handy portion size guide to help with cooking and prepping meals.

Keeping active
Did you know Hitchin has a Walking Cricket Club?
For men and women, the group aims to either reignite the love of an old sport or to help you discover it of the first time. Walking cricket supports everyone to participate in a gentler form of exercise. No previous experience is necessary. Just turn up, have a go and enjoy yourself.
If you want to meet new people, get some exercise and enjoy a cuppa after, this is the group for you.
The group meet Monday's 5.30-6.30pm in Priory School, Hitchin. Walking cricket is accessible and open to anyone aged 55 and over. To find out more or to book your space contact Sean on sean@clockcricket.co.uk or 07849 973451.

Mental health
If you are looking for help to support your mental wellbeing , the New Leaf College have a whole range of courses and seminars that are free to Hertfordshire residents over the age of 18. The sessions aim to provide students with knowledge and resources to help them manage their mental wellbeing.

Compassionate Neighbours Wellbeing Hub
Compassionate Neighbours are a North Herts based service that offer befriending support to those who experience loneliness and isolation. Their trained volunteers are matched with a member of the community based on their interests and hobbies and offer regular visits, companionship and emotional support.
Not only do the team offer individual befriending support but they also run wellbeing drop in sessions that bring people together for a cup of tea and a chat. The team offer these sessions in Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth and Royston, and have just launched a new venue in Macfadyen Webb House in Letchworth. You can pop along every week, or whenever you can, to join in with a fun activity or just simply sit and have a cuppa. Best of all the sessions are completely free of charge.

Royston Leisure Centres Men's Club
Have you heard about Royston Leisure Centres new Men's Club?
It is a free four week course that includes weekly workshops about men's mental and physical health, nutrition and support. The course also offers a wide range of free activities to help you improve your physical and mental health in a friendly, supportive environment - these include the gym, badminton, workout classes and more!

GoVolHerts
Last year #TeamHerts Volunteering launched their new website, GoVolHerts in response to the heightened interest in volunteering that Hertfordshire has seen since the start of the pandemic.
GoVolHerts has an easy-to-use online platform funded by Hertfordshire County Council which supports the whole of the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector across the county.
It allows Volunteers searching for their perfect role the chance to explore a vast selection of volunteering opportunities. And for Organisations who sign up, they will gain increased exposure for their charity as GoVolHerts has a combined digital following of over 14,000 people and a database of almost 7,000 volunteers!

The Sadie Centre
With the start of spring brings a change for the Letchworth Centre for Healthy Living. The team have just undertaken an exciting rebrand with a new name and logo to become The Sadie Centre. Alongside this, they have also launched a new series of Yoga and movement courses which will run side by side with their usual excellent provision of wellbeing support.
The Franklin Method ® : a world-renowned approach to improving body awareness, flexibility, mobility and strength. Get to know all the bones of your feet, how they are designed to move and how they are supported. Starts 26 April at 7-9pm
Yin Yoga offers meditative practice where poses are held for around 3-5 minutes to slowly open up the body and mind. Ideal for those who needs to slow down and take some time to release. Starts 20 April, 10.30-11.45am
Seasonal Yoga for All Levels this Yoga practice with the changing energy of the seasons helping you to live in harmony with nature. It offers a holistic practice to enhance wellbeing and a sense of balance in your life. Starts 4 June, 10am-11.15am
Monday Afternoon Yoga this relaxing 75-minute class helps alleviate stress and restore energy levels, incorporating Reiki healing into a calming Yin Yoga practice. Suitable for all levels. Monday at 1pm.
