Current information about Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Anyone can get it, anyone can spread it

Anyone can get it, anyone can spread it

Now is not the time to get complacent - COVID cases are rising everywhere and if we all want to avoid tougher local restrictions we ALL have to work together to keep the rate of infection down.

✋ Wash your hands regularly

😷 Wear a face covering when required (if you’re able to) and make sure it covers your nose 👃 as well as your mouth 👅

↔ Make space – try and keep two metres away from people you don’t live with

🗣🌡👃👅 If you have symptoms isolate immediately get tested – nhs.uk/coronavirus, call 119 or book a test via the NHS COVID-19 app

⚠ Self-isolate when you need to – if you/someone you live with or who’s in your bubble has symptoms/tests positive, if you’re asked to by NHS Test and Trace, if you return from abroad from a country on the quarantine list.

Message to accommodation owners

Warning to accommodation owners

With half term coming up, many people from other parts of the country will want to take a break in North Devon. We are asking owners of B&B's, holiday parks, guest houses, hotels, campsites, AirBnBs, holiday homes etc to please use the postcode checker to find out if any bookings are being made by people living in Tier 3 (Very High Risk) areas and if they are, do not allow them to stay.

We know you have had a tough year and won't want to turn anyone away, but government guidance is very clear that anyone living under the highest local restrictions is not allowed to spend the night away from home.

People living in Tier 2 (High Risk) and Tier 1 (Medium Risk) are allowed to spend nights away from home.

Our local COVID alert level is MEDIUM

Don't let Halloween turn into a COVID horror story

Safe halloween message

With the schools on half term next week, many of us will be thinking about how to keep the kids entertained and how to celebrate Halloween.

If you are planning on attending any events, please ensure they are COVID safe and meet social distancing requirements. Bring hand sanitiser and anybody over the age of 11 who is able to wear a mask should do so.

Don't put your loved ones at risk.

We're encouraging everyone to stay at home this Halloween, and not to go out trick or treating or knocking on doors.

Check whether anyone in your area is putting on a Halloween Trail this year where your children can spot pumpkins or stickers in windows at a safe distance, and if they aren't, maybe you could start one yourself.

Changes to travel corridor list

Flying aeroplane

The following countries and territories were removed from the exempt list at 4am Sunday 18 October 2020:

You may be fined up to £100 for failure to fill out the passenger locator form ahead of your arrival into the country, or more if you break this rule more than once. You also may not be allowed to enter the UK (unless you’re either British or a UK resident).

In England, if you are required to self-isolate and if you do not, you can be fined £1,000. If you do not provide an accurate contact detail declaration – or do not update your contact detail form in the limited circumstances where you need to move to another place to self-isolate – you can be fined. These fines start at £100 and will double – up to £3,200 – for repeated offences.
