Westfield Household Waste Recycling Centre in Cumbernauld will close on Sunday 6 May 2018.

The council took the decision to close the facility as part of its budget process for the year ahead.

Residents will be able to use the larger Wardpark centre which is only a few miles away. It operates the same recycling and waste collection services and is open seven days a week, Monday to Saturday 7am - 6pm and Sundays 7am - 5.30pm.

The council operates another six household waste recycling centres across North Lanarkshire, which is well above the requirements for local authorities. 

New machinery has been installed at the centres which increases the capacity within skips and makes the service more efficient.

Signs are being erected at the Westfield centre and adverts placed in the local media to advise residents of the closure.
