Bad weather forecast - be prepared

Stay safe at home and on the roads this winter

Motorway

With cold and snowy weather forecast for later this week, make sure you're prepared.

Our winter web pages have practical advice on dealing with the impact of winter, as well as information on any services affected by the weather. You can keep up-to-date by following @nlcwinter on Facebook and Twitter.

Bad weather can affect travel plans so check the forecast, traffic reports and public transport updates before you set out and allow extra time for your journey.

Always tell someone where and when you're going, and keep your mobile phone fully charged.

At home, keep a stock of essential supplies such as medicines, baby food, bottled water and ready-to-eat food.

We would also ask you to look out for elderly neighbours, family and friends who may find it more difficult to get out and about in bad weather. Just taking a few minutes to check they're ok and if they need any shopping will make a real difference.
