Pupils at Airdrie Academy were recently presented certificates as part of the now well established Promoting Positive Behaviour Initiative. Pupils in S1-4 who received a large number of merits were presented with Gold, Silver or Bronze awards. Pictured are some of the S1 pupils with their certificates. As well as receiving certificates pupils attended reward events at the end of term.
Pupils from Airdrie Academy were out and
about delivering Christmas parcels over the festive period.
The parcels were distributed to residents of
local sheltered housing complexes in and around the Airdrie area.
Thanks to all of the staff and pupils who
contributed to our annual Christmas parcel appeal.

Artwork by teenagers from across North Lanarkshire have been put on display at Coatbridge's Summerlee Museum, among which were two budding photographers from Airdrie Academy; Alan Graham (5F2) and Rachel Stewart (5F2).
The exhibition features a mix of visual art, film making, digital photography, printed textiles, jewellery and music inspired by pupils from schools across Airdrie and Coatbridge who took part in the council's annual creative residency program.
The program gave Alan and Rachel the opportunity to visit Kilbowie Outdoor Centre near Oban for a week's residency and intensive training in different creative talents where they were able to develop their artistic skills with help and guidance from experienced tutors from top Scottish schools and colleges.
A large group of S6 pupils at Airdrie
Academy are working hard as part of the school’s ‘Leadership Academy’. As part of this group they act as positive
role models to younger pupils and take on many responsibilities across the
school.
Pupils are contributing in areas
such as events management, charities, welcoming guides, website, yearbook,
photography, assemblies and primary transition. In all of these roles pupils
are developing valuable skills and learning the importance of team work and
cooperation.

The Modern Languages and Home Economic departments teamed up to run a crepe morning in aid of Vision Africa. It was a popular event with both staff and pupils - we had underestimated just how much Airdrie Academy had a sweet tooth.
The event took place during lunchtime where popular combinations such as Crepes with Nutella, cream & banana were sold. A total of £125 was raised which will be added to the Vision Africa total.
Reminder - school closed to pupils on Mon, Tue and Wed next week (8th - 10th Feb)
