Help us recognise the fantastic work of our teams
It’s time to celebrate the wonderful work of our staff and volunteers - and we need your help!
Nominations are now open for our ‘Exceptional people, outstanding care' Star Awards. If you feel one of our colleagues, teams, volunteers or services has made a real difference to you, then we would love to hear from you.
This is your chance to let us know about a member of staff who has impressed you with the outstanding care they have provided, or a hospital hero whose enthusiasm brings a smile to everyone around them. Our staff and volunteers work incredibly hard, and this is the perfect opportunity to recognise the care and dedication they show every day.
There are eight categories to choose from, and a judging panel will have the tricky task of picking the winners, who will be celebrated at the Star Awards ceremony in April. You can find more information about each award and a nomination form on our website. We've received over 90 nominations so far, so if you want to have your say then hurry - nominations close at midnight on 3 March!

Gold standard for supporting new nursing staff
The Trust has achieved the Quality Mark for the support we provide to newly-registered nurses.
Our Preceptorship Programme aims to welcome and integrate newly-registered nurses into their teams at the Trust, providing them with a 12-month period of dedicated guidance and support. As part of the Programme, our experienced nursing team help our new recruits to develop their practice, confidence and skills. The Programme also provides study days on topics including patient safety, leadership and career development, ensuring our patients receive safe and compassionate care from confident and competent staff.
The Quality Mark is the national gold standard and was created in 2022 when NHS England introduced the new national Preceptorship Framework for Nursing. NHS trusts across the country benchmark themselves again the framework, with the Quality Mark being awarded to organisations who have created an environment where new team members can thrive, learn and grow.

New transmission dates for Channel 5 documentary |
|
Viewing figures for Channel 5’s new ‘A&E After Dark’ series, which features our fantastic emergency department (ED) teams, have been so impressive that the broadcaster has decided to run the remaining episodes in April. This is so they can secure a more favourable slot for the remainder of the series, and draw in even more viewers. Episode three alone was watched by a quarter of a million viewers – and that’s not even counting the My5 app streaming figures!
So you’ll have to wait a little longer to watch our ED teams in action on screen again, as they work hard to help patients including those who have fallen off horses, swallowed spoons or dislocated various parts of their body!

Neonatal Sister wins Superhero Award |
|
Tabatha Thorpe, a Neonatal Sister at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, has won a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Superhero Award after being nominated by a patient’s mother.
The NICU Superhero Award is run by vCreate, a video messaging service used by our Neonatal Unit to connect parents with their babies while they are in hospital.
Rachael, the mum of a baby boy who spent time on our NICU, nominated Tabatha for “her patience and genuine interest.”
Rachael said: “Tabatha was fantastic with our little one and also with us. We were initially wary of carrying and cuddling him because of how small he was. However, Tabatha put us at ease and explained the benefits of skin-to-skin. This really helped us bond with our son."

Sign up to our patient portal
Do you want to manage your hospital outpatient appointments with a few taps on your phone? Then why not join over 82,000 patients who have already signed up to our new patient portal.
More than 11,000 users are now logging into the portal every week to read appointment letters and view upcoming appointments, which can also be rescheduled or cancelled on the portal if needed.
Signing up to the patient portal means you won't need to call our teams to manage your appointments. You can do this on the portal instead, saving you precious time. It also means we can help more people get the care they need more quickly, as we can reschedule them into cancelled appointments.
The portal easily links in with the NHS app and sends you notifications about upcoming appointments, so you won't need to worry about missing any!
Watch our short video on how the portal works and how it will benefit you.
