Letter to service users and carers
Thursday 12 December 2024
Dear All,
As we approach this festive season, I wanted to extend my warmest wishes to you and your loved ones.
The twinkling lights and festive cheer are in the air, yet I recognise that this time of year can bring a mix of emotions for many. The colder days and longer nights can sometimes dampen our spirits, while the current challenges we face as a society may add to feelings of anxiety or uncertainty, before even taking into account the personal challenges we each individually face.
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or any other religious festivals or not, we understand this period can be particularly challenging. It's okay to prioritise your mental health during this time. Whether it's taking a moment for yourself, reaching out to loved ones, or seeking professional support, please don't hesitate to do what's best for you.
We are here for all of you to provide care and support for your mental health and wellbeing whenever you need it, through this period and beyond.
I wish you a peaceful festive season, filled with moments of comfort and joy, and hope, healing, and happiness for the year ahead.
BBC London interview on NHS111 and providing a new lifeline for people across North London
People in North London experiencing a mental health crisis are amongst millions throughout the UK now able to benefit from immediate telephone support by calling 111.
Anyone in crisis, including children, or concerned family members can now call 111, choose the mental health option, and talk to a trained mental health professional. The line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
North London Foundation Trust’s Chief Operating Officer Jess Lievesley and clinical support worker Christiana Edwards-Aganmwonyi recently spoke with BBC journalist Jacqueline Shepherd about the service on BBC Radio London.
Christiana is one of our clinicians working shifts answering the phones at our crisis service, which fields calls from NHS 111. She was interviewed by BBC London Radio about her work which includes handling calls from the public who may be experiencing crises such as suicidal thoughts or acute mental health challenges. Understanding ADHD: Insights from Dr Ramya Srinivasan
We had the pleasure of hosting Dr Ramya Srinivasan, a Welcomed Trust Clinical Fellow and Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at UCL Division of Psychiatry. Dr Srinivasan shared her expertise on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
The event was attended by a diverse group, including parents of children with ADHD, individuals who had recently been diagnosed, and others with a general interest in the topic. Dr Srinivasan covered several key areas, including the importance of understanding ADHD, its symptoms, and the challenges of diagnosis and management.

Celebrate Camden's Creativity at our Array of Light exhibition at St Pancras Hospital Gallery
Everyone is welcome to visit the latest exhibition, curated by The Arts Project, at St Pancras Hospital Gallery.
The exhibition runs until 17 January 2025 and the gallery is open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm (excluding Christmas and New Year bank holidays)
More than100 people were in attendance of the grand opening and this lively celebration featured music and live artwork from The Camden Women Art Collective, a group whose pieces reflect themes of identity, resilience, and the beauty of everyday life.
Peter Herbert, the curator of the Arts Project said: "We decided to go for a smaller exhibition with six local Camden artists. They have worked together so well as a team, and it's been a real pleasure and has resulted in a very fine exhibition."
The collection represents a variety of artistic mediums, from painting and ceramics to mixed media and mark-making. Highlights include:
Melissa Fry: Nature-inspired art exploring neurodiversity and Camden’s heritage.
Bee Ororo: Lockdown paintings exploring identity and mental health by the musical director of the NHS London Choir.
Miriam Mannish: Mixed media and textured collages reflecting personal and artistic growth.
Marion Hack: Layered paintings celebrating women’s lives and perspectives.
