Leisure Centres due to re-open on Monday 12th April

swimming pool

Following the recent announcement of the Government’s lockdown exit plan our leisure centres will be open in Step 2 on Monday 12th April 2021.

The centres will be re-opening with Covid-19 safety measures in place. Initially the gym and swimming pool will only be open for individual use with badminton, squash, table tennis etc restricted to those from the same household.

Children’s swimming, gymnastics and trampoline courses will also restart from 12th April.

Group fitness classes have been identified in Step 3 of the governments exit plan from 17th May.

All these dates are subject to Government review & confirmation approximately one week before they come into effect.

The safety measures will again mean there is a reduced capacity for most activities. Bookings can be made online from 6 April for gym and swim sessions on our Leisure Hub website.

What is happening with your membership?

As we had limited notice regarding this last lockdown coming into effect we were unable to stop January’s direct debit payment from being taken. Therefore there will be no payment collected for members on 1st April.

The next direct debit will be collected on 1st May which will be half your normal monthly membership amount. This reflects the amount owed to you for January’s payment & the part month the centre is open in April assuming the centre reopens on 12th April.

Those who don’t feel ready to return yet can continue to freeze their membership for free by emailing leisurecustomerservices@ne-derbyshire.gov.uk with your name, membership number, the centre you attend and how many months you wish to freeze your membership for. Any requests must be received by 20th April 2021 in order for them to be effective for 1st May Direct Debit. Any requests received after this date will not be processed in time. All pre-paid memberships will have the length of the closure added to their expiry date.

We are now offering more flexible memberships to suit your needs, find out more on our Leisure Hub website

Live Classes

Virtual workout

We are looking to increase the number of live classes we post on our Facebook pages so keep an eye on our social media channels for updates. Also, please remember that sessions can be booked individually or as a household to use our Fitness on Demand Virtual instructor systems at Dronfield Sports Centre and Eckington Swimming Pool & Fitness Centre.

Safety for all

It is important to point out that whilst we are going to every length we can to protect both the customer and our staff, we still need our customers to observe the guidelines in place. In order to visit the facilities and to guarantee entry, advanced booking is necessary for ALL activities including casual sessions such as swimming and gym. Booking will be open via our website or over the phone from Tuesday 6th April 2021.

Again, please see the list of FAQ’s on our website and also a video explaining the measures we are taking to keep you and our staff safe.

The well-being of our employees and visitors is our top priority and we will only extend our activities when government guidance allows to ensure our facilities meet the required Covid secure standards.

We would like to thank you for your continued and unwavering support as we work through this crisis.
