Funding Changes: Eligible 2 year-old funding and 3 and 4 year-old Nursery Education - The LA is making changes to the system for processing eligible 2-year-old funding and 3 and 4-year-old Nursery Education funding (15 and 30 hours) claims for all schools (Headcount). During autumn term 2019 we will be holding briefing sessions to ensure all schools are fully aware of how to submit claims through the Portal and will trial the new system in a small number of schools. more info

NQT Welcome Event Reminder - A reminder for NQTs that Welcome to Nottingham: The Essential Guide to the Induction Programme takes place tomorrow (September 18th) at 9am at Nottingham Conference Centre and is free to attend. more info

Inspiring EYFS training opportunities for 2019-20 - The Early Years 19 -20 training programme supports those new to the EYFS to those looking to improve on areas such as F1, F2 and Year 1 Phonics, F1 and F2 Maths and/or Interaction. They have sourced and commissioned new courses that will explore how practitioners can support their diverse local communities and develop children’s confidence. more info

DfE Consultation: Mandatory minimum per pupil funding levels in 5-16 school funding - The DfE is seeking views on how local authorities should implement the national funding formula's mandatory minimum per pupil funding levels in local funding formulae. more info

DfE Launches Character Awards - In recognition of the work in schools to help young people build character and resilience, the Department for Education will be relaunching the Character Awards, which highlight innovative or outstanding programmes that develop a wide variety of positive character traits. Schools will be able to enter in October, ahead of the awards ceremony in March 2020. more info

School Grants to Promote Physics - UK schools and colleges can apply for grants of up to £600 for small-scale projects or events linked to the teaching or promotion of physics and engineering to pupils aged 5-19. Grants can support a wide range of projects such as school-based science weeks, extracurricular activities, science clubs, careers event or a visit from a working physicist or engineer. more info

Funding to Support Education in Disadvantaged Areas - Grants are available to support schools and registered charities that wish to undertake educational work with children and young people in disadvantaged areas. The British & Foreign Schools Society (BFSS) normally makes grants for educational projects totalling about £600,000 in any one year. The closing date for applications is the 31st December 2019. more info
